Wednesday, ten (10) days in advance of the weekend of publication. PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. RCIA: Please call the Parish Office for more information. MARRIAGES: Arrangements must be made with a priest/deacon at least six (6) months in advance. Call the Parish Office for more information. 2

"Advent has a two-fold character, for it is a time of preparation for the Solemnities of Christmas, in which the First Coming of the Son of God to humanity is remembered, and likewise a time when, by remembrance of this, minds and hearts are led to look forward to Christ's Second Coming at the end of time. For these two reasons, Advent is a period of devout and expectant delight" (Universal Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar (henceforth, Universal Norms, 39) DSA SUPPORT APPEAL 2017: Only one month left to fulfill your DSA pledge. Our ministries and our parish are counting on you. ADVENT GATHERING & CHRISTMAS DINNER 2017: We will be holding our Annual Advent Gathering on Sunday, December 10th at 4:00 PM. We ask that each family attending the dinner bring a side dish (enough for 8-10 adults. Please plan on joining us for a fun filled afternoon. RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS Aging religious need your help. Senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have offered their lives in service to others educating the young, comforting the sick, seeking justice for the oppressed. Today, many are frail, elderly, and in need of assistance. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps to furnish medications, nursing care, and other necessities. Please give generously to today s second collection. ALLERGY/FLU SEASON It is allergy/flu season again. If you have had it, please share your act of charity and kindness by NOT receiving the cup of the Precious Blood of Christ. The Church teaches us that if we receive just the Body or Blood of Christ, we receive the whole Christ. Thank you for understanding. 6 Faith Formation News Faith Formation classes meet Dec from 9:30-10:30 Youth Group Christmas Dinner, Dec. 17 th in the Parish Hall from 5:30pm to 7pm Bring a a main dish and a wrapped gift to share. COMMUNITY NEWS WILLIAM PHARR MEMORIAL INSTITUTE IN GHANA (Named in Honor of Father Bill of our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in the 1980's). The school is asking for donations of the following items: used laptops, desktops, flat screen monitor and any computer accessories. Pencils, pens and school stationeries, chairs and school desks...any kind of donation. You may leave donations at the Parish Office during office hours. If you have any questions you may contact Philip Adu at (St. Mary's parishioner) ROOM AT THE INN is in need of $25 gift cards for Target and Walmart for use as Christmas gifts for the mothers in the program. LOOKING FOR THE LONGEST MARRIED COUPLE IN 2018 Worldwide Marriage Encounter is searching for the longest married couple. This project is held to honor the commitment of married couples and to give hope and inspiration to younger couples that they too can have long and lasting marriages. CDL license is required however if you don t have one and are interested, we can assist in obtaining a license. Flexible hours, approx. 15 to 20 hrs. per week.
