Parishioners, parents, school community and religious education program... everyone! Tickets in the box seats area are $12 per person (which includes a $2 credit at the concession stand)! The children s choir and altar servers, and sacristans are guests of Msgr. Darcy, and are asked to sign up in the front sacristy or with Mr. Procopio. Donations can be dropped off at the Pantry on the day of the Pantry openings (July 25, August 8, August 22, September 12 and 26) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We can only accept produce on the day of the Pantry openings due to limited storage and to assure the produce is at its freshest. Refrigeration will be available for items that require it. Celebration of Marriage Bishop Tobin is inviting couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th (or longer) wedding anniversaries in 2017 to renew their marriage vows at a special Mass in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m Registration Religious Education Ms. Jessica Walters and Mr. Charlie Moreira are preparing the new calendars for Faith Formation (the new name for Religious Education). 5 July 23 & July 30, 2017 The Pastor s Corner Patience is a virtue. Patience is the ability to keep control over the impulse that rises suddenly when something disagreeable happens. It is not just disregard of or indifference to life s daily irritations or upsetting incidents, but a real control of self, of one s feelings and impulses. On the contrary, impatience is the lack of self-control and leads to other and greater faults. It can easily grow into anger, irritability, harsh words, unpleasantness towards others, etc. Many a serious quarrel starts with impatience over little annoyances or inconveniences. In the middle of a rather mixed weather summer, we will hear the so-called Parables of the Kingdom. The name is rather obvious given the manner in which Jesus tells the parable. The Kingdom of God is like Today we have a great parable on the weeds. What can be observed and learned from the parable as it confronts our life? As in today s Gospel, we have an impulse just to pull out the weeds. We don t want to wait for the mustard seed to grow, and we certainly can t be bothered in the heat of the summer to wait for yeast to leaven dough. Impatience, then and today. Home, Church, or school repairs can try our patience. Why can t they show up on time (if at all!)? Isn t there a less expensive way to do this? Forget it, I ll just let it be! Sound familiar? God is incredibly patient about things eternal. Our angst, testiness, disappointments and setbacks are in the light of eternity rather insignificant. Today s Gospel helps us put things into perspective whether it is our prayer life, our families, our ministry or in the ordinary things of life. So, looking in the mirror, I can only respond: Relax, Monsignor, take a deep breath. Things will move along and things will be fine. Remember, The Kingdom of God is like.
