Wednesday, ten (10) days in advance of the weekend of publication. PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. RCIA: Please call the Parish Office for more information. MARRIAGES: Arrangements must be made with a priest/deacon at least six (6) months in advance. Call the Parish Office for more information. 2

5 PARISH NEWS ***** FROM THE PASTOR: Dear Parishioners, Last month, we presented to you our plan of restoration of St. Benedict Catholic Church to her beauty and reverence. Since our Faith Formation has ended this weekend with the celebration of Confirmation on Saturday, May 20 th and First Communion on Sunday, May 21 st we will proceed as planned next month. Yes, the next couple of months from June 5 th to August 30 th, St. Benedict Church WILL BE UNDER CONSTRUCTION. During this time, ALL Masses both weekends and weekdays - will be celebrated in the Parish Hall; however, the Mass schedule will remain the same. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding during the renovation this summer. Sincerely, Fr. James Duong DSA SUPPORT APPEAL 2017 As we approach the end of the school year, let us give thanks for the wonderful catechists who have shared their faith with our children. Your Diocesan Support Appeal gifts help provide training and certification for our parish catechists. If you have not yet made a gift to the DSA this year, please give prayerful consideration to determine an amount that you are proud to give. As of today 64 of our parish families have contributed $19, We need each of you to help us reach our goal of $24, Thank you for all of your efforts! LITURGICAL NOTE: Following Pentecost, Ordinary Time resumes on Monday, June 5 th with the 9 th week. Ordinary Time continues until the First Sunday of Advent, December 2, For those who pray The Liturgy of the Hour, the psalter resumes its course with Pss I. ST. BENEDICT DECAL: If you missed buying your decal you can come by the church office to purchase one. The minimum cost is $5 for one or two for $9, donations are appreciated. Proceeds will go to help fund for the restoration of the church. 5

6 EUCHARIST CONGRESS 2017: Be a part of the Eucharistic Congress. Volunteer! Most volunteer timeslots are for 2 hours or less. Details and sign up at ST. BENEDICT S CHOIR: Can you give some time to sing with the 11:00 choir? Reading music is not necessary, and you can attend off and on as you are able. We rehearse Wednesday evenings 6:30-7:30. Please call Dianne McCutcheon, with any questions. THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET will be recited after 11:00 Mass and after all Daily Masses. BIBLE STUDY will meet on Tuesday, June 6 th from 7:00 PM -8:00 PM. All are welcome. 7 FAITH FORMATION NEWS If you would like to join St. Benedict s Faith Formation, please fill out a registration form found in the vestibules at the back of the church. We respectfully ask for registrations, grades PK4-high school to be returned by Friday, June 24. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Come camp with us! Join us on June 19, 21 & 22 From 6:00PM -8:30PM Free for all children ages 4-13 welcome COMMUNITY NEWS GREENSBORO URBAN MINISTRY We would like to express our deepest thanks for your food donations. Donations from generous people like you help us continue our mission to help the poor and underprivileged here in Greensboro. With your help, we are able to provide nutritious food for more than 100 families every day through our Emergency Assistance Program. Your support also helps provide food for our Potter s House Community kitchen where we serve meals daily. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who live constantly in worry of not having enough food for their families. Neighbors helping neighbors is a wonderful concept that has come to life through your caring and generous donation. Thank you for allowing us to share the gift of food.
