PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. This Combined Mission Collection contributes toward the Collection for the Church in Latin America; the Church is Central and Eastern Europe, the Church in Africa, Catholic Home Missions, and the United States Mission Collection. WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY, JANUARY 18-25, 2019 The theme of this year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is "Justice, Only Justice, You Shall Pursue" (cf. Deuteronomy 16:20) was chosen, by a group of representatives from Indonesia for its powerful message of promoting truth, equality and unity. The Christians of Indonesia found that the words of Deuteronomy, Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue spoke powerfully to their situation and needs, and recognized this common need throughout the world. 6 Faith Formation News Please check your often for Faith Formation news, updates, and inclement weather cancelations. St. Benedict s Faith Formation meets in the parish halls from 9:30 10:30 Sunday mornings. COMMUNITY NEWS BECOME AN ADVOCATE Would you like to help Catholics return to the sacraments and non-catholics to receive them for the first time? The Diocesan Tribunal needs volunteer advocates to assist divorced people to be able to receive the sacraments and be free to marry in the Church and, if married, in a valid marriage. Training is done by at no cost to you. For more information, please contact Joy Barnes at (diocese) or (home) or jmbarnes@charlottediocese.org HABITAT BUILD ON FAITH IT'S ALMOST HERE! St. Benedict's participation day is Saturday, January 26 for the Habitat for Humanity Build on Faith house. We are scheduled to work indoors, installing cabinets and doors, and other tasks. St. Benedict's has helped sponsor the house which is being built with contributions and volunteer labor from Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith communities throughout Greensboro. On Saturday, Jan. 26, we need 4-5 more workers aged 16 and over.
