PARISH REGISTRATION: Welcome all new families and individuals. Membership is a condition for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion at St. Benedict, and for the parish to issue a sponsorship certificate for those asked to be sacramental sponsors. You must be a registered, contributing member for at least three (3) months before a certificate will be given. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If you are seriously ill, going in for surgery or weak from old age, you may receive the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Please contact Fr. Duong if you desire to receive this sacrament. HOSPITAL & NURSING HOME & SHUT-IN VISITS: If you or any members of your family are sick and in the hospital or a nursing home, and you d like Communion brought to them, please call the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION: All classes from Pre-K to High School are on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am in the Parish Hall. For more information call Lynne McGrath. 5 PARISH NEWS DSA 2018 DIOCESAN SUPPORT APPEAL (DSA) We have reached our Goal ($23,458.00) for the Diocesan Support Appeal (DSA). Thank you to all our parishioners for your generosity in caring for our Parish and the Diocesan Church! Among the people helped by our contributions to the DSA are the Elderly/Poor, our Youth, Families in need and our brothers and sisters participating in various Multi-Cultural Activities. Again, thank you! Father Duc. THE CHRISTMAS SEASON: Next to the yearly celebration of the paschal mystery, the church holds most sacred the memorial of Christ's birth and early manifestations. This is the purpose of the Christmas season (General Norms, 32). The Christmas season extends from Evening Prayer I of Christmas through the Baptism of the Lord, Sunday, January 13, FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR "I would like to say thanks to all parishioners and visitors for joining me and St. Benedict community to celebrate Christmas Your FAITH, HOPE, JOY, and GRATITUDE have made St. Benedict's Parish, a place of 'God's presence among us'. SOLEMNITY OF THE VIRGIN MARY THE MOTHER OF GOD: Tuesday, January 1 st we celebrate the Solemnity of the Virgin Mary the Mother of God. Mass will be Monday at 7:00 pm and Tuesday at 10:00 am. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. 6 Faith Formation News We wish all a Happy New Year! Faith Formation will NOT meet Dec. 30th. Classes will resume on Jan. 6, 2019 THANK YOU St. Benedict s Youth Group would like to thank all parishioners who purchased Christmas Basket raffle tickets. You helped us to raise over $300 in support of our charities. We have three unclaimed baskets left. Please check your tickets and pick up your basket. COMMUNITY NEWS THANK YOU: We are truly honored and grateful for the support of St. Benedict s parish. Your contribution supports our Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Outpatient, Employment and Personal Care Services for adults with serious mental illness in Guilford County. Please know that your financial gift will make it possible for Sanctuary House to provide the highest quality services and opportunities to its members. ALL NIGHT FIRST FRIDAY-FIRST SATURDAY VIGIL Jan. 4 & 5 at Our Lady of Grace beginning with the First Friday Mass at 6:30 PM on Jan. 4 and ending with the First Saturday Mass at 8 AM on Jan. 5. Confessions are available after the First Friday Mass from 7:30 8:30 PM. For more information contact Geri GCCW: The Greensboro Area Council of Catholic Women will hold its Annual Pot Luck Luncheon on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Please bring your favorite dish to share. There is no charge for this event. There will be a raffle at the luncheon to benefit our charitable causes.
