All are encouraged to receive from the chalice or with bread alone, and asked to refrain from intinction (dipping the wafer in the chalice). COLLECT: Almighty God, who inspired Luke the physician to proclaim the love and healing power of your Son, give your Church, by the grace of the Spirit and the medicine of the gospel, the same love and power to heal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS: God of compassion, you are a strong tower for all who trust in you. Be now and evermore our defence, that we may proclaim the only name under heaven given for health and salvation, the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. NEWSLETTER DEADLINE The deadline for the Winter issue of the St. Luke s newsletter is FRIDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2013 This issue covers the months of December, January and February. Please your submission to newsletter@stlukesburlington.ca If you do not use , you may drop it off at the church office. ***Sorry, but no late submissions will be accepted.*** WINTER IS COMING!! None of us likes to be reminded of that! But think how much worse you would feel if you knew that you had no warm coat to help you make it through. There are many in our community who do not have suitable clothing for the winter months. To help them out, we will be collecting gently used (or new) winter coats, jackets, hats, scarves and gloves for all ages (no other clothing please). There will be a box in the Great Hall where you can leave your donations and they will be distributed to those who need them. Please be sure that they are in wearable condition i.e. clean, no broken zippers, missing buttons or tears. Thank you for helping us to help our neighbours. 5 Upcoming Events: Youth and Family Ministry will be hosting a number of events this fall for the community. Please mark them on your calendar and attend to show your support for this valuable ministry of our church. October 26 th, 2-4pm Halloween Party all are welcome to drop by, dress up in a terrifying costume and come to play scary games, eat ghoulish treats, bring your own pumpkin and we will help you make it frighteningly delightful. November 30th, 2-4pm As we prepare for the coming of Christmas, yes it is coming all too quickly, you are invited to an event that will help you create your own family Advent Calendar. Please drop by the Parish Hall and create a work of art that will be part of your family s spiritual life. December 1 st, 7:30pm World AIDS Day Worship Salt and Light Youth Group will lead the community in worship to mark this important day. TO ANY AND ALL KIDS! The contractor assured us that the Lot will be: o open for Sunday Service o closed during after-hours (construction equipment will be left in the Lot). LUKE The 2013 Great Fall Hymn Sing This year s Hymn Sing featuring the Senior Choirs of West Plains United and St. Luke s Anglican churches will take place in the church at 3:00pm Sunday November 10. This year s event is entitled Words and Music a demonstration of how different composers have written music for the same words. You can decide which setting you like best! As always audience participation is welcome and yes, there will be a "Lucky Draw" so you can request your favorite hymn. The Hymn Sing is a fun afternoon & every one is welcome. Admission is $10.00 and $8.00 for students/seniors, children aged 12 and under will be admitted for free so plan to bring your children & grandchildren. Tickets are available from choir members or by calling or Following the Hymn Sing there is a reception, with delicious treats, in the parish hall. THE LIBRARY CATALOGUE IS NOW ONLINE! Through open discussions, a mentor program & guest speakers, their weekly support meetings focus on healthy living mind, body & soul. Children s programmes focus on values and asset building, & offer enrichment activities, fun and fitness. Come to learn how they are making a difference & how perhaps you can too.
