All are encouraged to receive from the chalice or with bread alone, and to refrain from intinction (dipping the wafer in the chalice). NURSERY for children (up to 3yrs old) in room 302 of the Parish Hall, during the 10am service. COLLECT: Living God, in Christ you make all things new. Transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace, and in the renewal of our lives make known your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS: God of steadfast love, may our offering this day, by the power of your Holy spirit, renew us for your service. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen. 4 St. Luke s Annual Pancake Supper (sold out last 2 years ) Shrove Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 Continuous servings: 5:00pm to 7:00pm In the Great Hall Tickets: Adults $7.00, Children $4.00, Families $18.00 Available on Sundays following the 8:15 service & at coffee hour PANCAKES, SAUSAGES, BACON, COFFEE/TEA, POP, DESSERT! Lenten Book Study: Our Lenten book Study will be using the Bishop s selection this year, the book - Being Christian by Archbishop Rowan Williams. It is just a four-week study after our coffee hour each Sunday between March 1st and March 22nd. Confirmation Classes This year s Confirmation Classes will begin Thursday February 26 th. The course is open to all people and is especially for young people who are currently in Grade 8 and up. The course will run on Thursday afternoons, 4:30-6pm, from February 26 th through to the Confirmation Date set for June 7 th. All people who are interested in taking part should contact Elliott (esiteman@stlukesburlington.ca) for a registration package. If you are seeking information, wanting to be confirmed, or desiring to reaffirm your baptismal covenant then this course is for you. The Parish Church of St. Luke Presents Taizé Night Prayer In the business of our work-a-day lives, we all need a place and a space where we can be still and know the presence and the peace of God. 5 Speakers Lunch Group The aim of the Speakers Lunch group is to foster awareness among parishioners of happenings & endeavours in the wider community that may be worthy of interest & support. The group meets at 11:30 am on the second Thursday of each month for social time, followed by a Bring Your Own Lunch & a talk by the speaker of the month. The study of the upcoming lectionary for Sunday increases our understanding of the scriptures and prepares us for worship. This is a casual study and all are welcome. For more info call Marjorie at BAKE SALE IN SUPPORT OF THE MADAGASCAR MISSIONS Sunday March 1st, during coffee hour We will be holding a bake sale in support of Mary Sherwood s work at the orphanage and inner city youth centre in Madagascar. The orphanage especially has faced a number of financial challenges this past year including a fire. Now Mary has made a special appeal to her supporters for emergency funds to help pay for radiation treatments for the director of the orphanage, who is battling cancer. They need to raise over $4500 to cover these costs. Any excess funds raised will go into a health care fund for the children. We hope you can help, by baking something for the sale and/or buying some of the delicious items that will be offered. More details to follow. Thank you for supporting Mary and the children at this very difficult time.
