1 Volume 8, Issue 29 July 20, 2016 Who God Is Taken from 31 Ways to Praise by Bob Hostetler He is God the Liberator. I will praise You because You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD (Psalm 70:5). Who We Are Faith Fellowship of Lexington is a Multi-denominational gathering of Christians who enjoy traditional worship services. Where to Find Us Liberty Road Faith Fellowship worships at 2734 Liberty Road. You can find us on the web at Click on Watch Our Services Online Now at the bottom of our Website Homepage to watch live or archived services. We Gather for Fellowship Coffee/Donut Fellowship Time: 9:00-10:15 a.m. in Kearns Hall. The Pastor s Pen by Dr. Bill Turner, Senior Pastor Ann Holt has been a Godsend to our church as our Financial Secretary. In our early history, we were anxiously searching for a way to keep up with the financial needs of a new congregation when - out of the blue - we learned that Ann was ready to move on to a new job. Truthfully, she could have "retired" at that point in her life and career, but she decided instead to join our staff and she has been a blessing to us over these five years: recording contributions, sending out giving statements, paying bills, and generally keeping us solvent. In addition, though she has retained her active membership at Central Baptist Church, she's become a regular in our Ann Holt Sunday School and a periodic attender in special worship services and seasons. It's been a joy for all of us to work alongside her and to share her life and spirit. Her efficiency and professionalism are only matched by her warmth and faithfulness. Typical of Ann, her letter of resignation says, "A simple letter of resignation cannot convey the love I have for you as a congregation

We'll be recognizing and honoring Ann during morning worship on July 31st, but I hope you'll join me in telling her personally how much she's meant to all of us. In time, we will find a good replacement for this staff position, but we will miss Ann greatly. She's left a fine legacy among us... and we're mighty thankful that she has shared our journey during these important, formative years in the life of Faith Fellowship. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. Song of Solomon 2:11-12 Many years ago David and I replaced the front walk that led to the street with a brick walk that leads from the driveway onto the porch. David s Mom gave him pink azaleas to plant along the walkway as a birthday gift. The azaleas still bloom every spring distinctly marking our house with a bright pink hedge. The blooms of the azaleas are reminders that we have made it through another winter and that summer is around the corner. They also serve as a reminder of the maturity and growth in our children. Each year, the flowers bloomed the same week as high school proms. So naturally, we chose to take pictures with the pink azaleas in the background. The dates and the dresses changed, but the young adults and the flowers remain forever young and full of anticipated dreams. It s fun to look back and remember when, but it s even more fun to see our children as adults with their own children and traditions. God bless the families.
6 $10; Call Sarah Reeves at Prayer Requests To add a prayer request, please fill out a Prayer Request card that can be obtained at the Welcome Center; call the church office at , or submit a prayer request or update online by going to Libertyroadfaithfellowship.org. Women of Faith Arrangement by Charlotte Krasinski, WOF Chair Pray for Pat Bain as she continues therapy at North Point. Pray also for her husband, Roger. Pray for Roger Blair, who is doing well, but won t know the results of the cyber knife treatment until November when he has another scan. Pray for Carolyn and their family as they wait, hope and trust. Pray for Vicki Clark who continues Chemo treatments. Pray for John Compton and family in the recent death of his sister, Joyce Baker. The family appreciates the prayers and concern shown by their church family. Our ladies gathered last Thursday in Kearns Hall to learn how to make flower arrangements. This is a picture of the arrangement they did. Sara Tuttle, a Landscape Engineer that happens to be in a Garden Club with Rachel Jones and Carolyn Blair, was the instructor. We sincerely appreciate Sara taking her time to share this gift with us and to teach us how we can do lovely arrangements like this for church gatherings. I think they should get an A+, don t you?!
7 Pray for Helen Crews who is recovering from breast cancer surgery. Thankful for God s Faithful Servants Pray for Jeanette Grindstaff, a faithful member who has not been able to attend church due to illness. Pray for Pat Hill who continues to recover at home from a partial knee replacement surgery recently. Pray for Shannon Mirzaian, age 47, daughter of Buddy and Linda Hogan who is fighting an aggressive form of cancer. Pray for Joyce Reaguer who is in St. Joseph Hospital following a fall. Pray for Scot Reeves who will have surgery on his left arm on Wednesday, July 20 to have a lesion removed. Before Tammi Griffin came on board to be our Nursery Coordinator, we floundered a bit trying to get someone to cover that responsibility. Then God sent us Tammi. She is an honest, trustworthy, woman of integrity. You just can t put a price on that! We are so thankful to have this relationship with Tammi (pictured here with her daughter A Miya) and we look forward to many more years in ministry together. A Miya loves to come help her Mom with little ones. (Look at that sweet smile!) Now, we need to pray earnestly for little ones for Tammi and A Miya to love on and care for pray for God to send lots and lots of young families with little ones!

Liberty Elementary School (LES) is just a short distance from our new location, and provides an outreach into this area of Lexington. The principal, Gerry Brooks, is very eager to have volunteers in the school to help with a variety of needs. Any school is eager to have help with the many tasks that help both teachers and children. Some possibilities are: -Running copies -Cutting, laminating, collating, and other tasks related to preparing instructional materials for teachers -Being present for children to read to you -Reading to children -Help in the classroom as guided by the teachers -Providing instruction as needed by the teachers -Tutoring in reading and other language arts, social studies, science, and Math You can see that tasks range from the very simple but necessary to those which require more direct work with children. All are important!!!! Additionally, we would like to provide support/recognition/appreciation for the faculty and staff at LES as needed. Please think about ways you can help the school for an hour or longer on a regular, weekly basis. The time you choose to volunteer is completely flexible within your schedule; however, your commitment must be just that a commitment to be at the school at the same time each week. Children, teachers, and staff will depend on you! Working directly with children occurs between 7:45 a.m. 2:30 p.m. Other tasks are available from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Sarah Reeves Ex-Officio: Richard Dwyer Anyone entering a school must complete a criminal background check, which is a very simple process, and the LES website provides a link. I did mine last week and was notified the next day that my check had been completed. That pesky speeding ticket from 10 years ago showed up, even though I went to Traffic School. (Bath County on I-64 is a speed trap, particularly near the end of the month!) I am sure most of you will be squeaky clean!!! If you plan to volunteer, I suggest you complete this process early. The link to the LES site is liberty.fcps.net. Click on parents, then on volunteer, and the application will pop up. The form is selfexplanatory except for the employment button. It does not give an option for retired or unemployed. Skip that, and at the end of the form, you will be directed to go back to that item and select Select. You cannot do that until you have completed the form. If you have any questions or difficulty, contact me ( ), and I will try to help you. Please think of a task you would like to contribute to LES, do your background check, and sign up on the sheet in the entryway to let me know what you would like to help with!! We should be ready to begin volunteering immediately after Labor Day when routines and enrollment at the school have settled. Our presence in the school and our name badges showing we are from Liberty Road Faith Fellowship will clearly state that we are eager to help as well as letting residents know we are Liberty Road Faith Fellowship! Critical Need for Housing by Bill Turner Dabney Parker, Resource Developer of the Kentucky Refugee Ministries is extending an urgent plea for housing for a family of 8. They thought that housing was secured for this family, but it is no longer available. If you have rental property or know of someone who could help this family, please contact Dabney Parker at (859) as soon as possible.
