Richard Dwyer Minister of Music and Organist Notes from Richard The spirit of our worship this past Sunday will not soon be gone from our memories. The thrill of seeing a sanctuary packed with new faces, the joy that was felt with the music of Dr. Gregory Turay, Dr. Tedrin Blair Lindsay, the choir, and also each one who participated in the congregational singing will be in our minds for weeks to come. In addition, the spiritual meaning and emotion of the enthusiastic piano sounds and the breathtaking vocal melodies still echo in our hearts and minds. I am extremely grateful for each person who had a part in making this Sunday of music such a great success. Our church members took very seriously the task of inviting friends to attend. Then what happened? The friends we invited also invited other friends. The messages of invitation of Facebook spread far and wide and were very important as a publicity link to many in our surrounding communities. I appreciate the behind the scenes work of so many individuals the ushers who welcomed an overwhelming number of guests, those who took the offering, and those who opened your hearts, smiles and friendship to all who entered our sanctuary Sunday morning. What an encouraging day we experienced here at Liberty Road Faith Fellowship. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Mission Moment: Third Sunday of Sharing By Catherine Cook, Missions Committee Member Liberty Road Faith Fellowship seeks to become the hands and feet of Christ in the world through engagement in missions. August is here and that means back to school. In the past we have donated clothing to the Lexington Women s club for needy children in Lexington. Now we want to continue the mission with Oakdale Christian Academy and help them with their needs. It is a boarding school for grades 7-12, in Jackson, Kentucky. The mission started years ago with Rev. Thomas T. May and C.E. Oderman to support the school. There were many needs at that time and still many today. They have come a long way, especially in the past 15 years. Renovations, technology, and classroom needs are a priority right now. The school has grown academically as well as in sports. It has become fully accredited with a 90% college placement rate. There are 55 students from 14 states and 8 foreign countries. The goal is to grow the enrollment to 75. They rely on donations in order to meet operating expenses. Right now they need textbooks that will cost $2,000, touchscreen displays for the Library and English class that will cost $1,500 (still using chalkboards), and laptops that will cost $1,500, as well as other needs. She is very weak and Faith from the Front Porch By Jackie Bondurant How wonderful to be wise, to analyze and interpret things. Wisdom lights up a person's face, softening its harshness. Ecclesiastes 8:1 Funny how time slows to a crawl when you are sitting on the front porch at night. No electronics, no reading or handwork just sitting and being interrupted by the occasional car or pedestrian walking his/her dog. The mind doesn t shut down during this quiet time and I find myself thinking the weirdest thoughts. This time, I m remembering sitting on my grandfather s lap as he read me the funnies in the Sunday paper. It was a ritual every week before I learned to read. After that, we made a Sunday stop at Fayette Cigar store on Main Street for a Louisville Courier- Journal for him and two comic books for me. I remember also looking at his hands and thinking, when I grow up I want my hands to look just like his especially his thumbs. I would spend time everyday pressing my fingers against one thumb and then the other to flatten them out. It must have worked. I have his flat thumbs, now I pray I have his wisdom.
8 needs prayers for strength. Pray also for her husband, Ed, who is her caregiver. (Booker) Pray for Kyle Taylor, 26-year-old grandson of Paul Taylor, who is recovering from surgery to replace a mechanical valve in his heart. Kyle is doing great. He has to stay in the hospital a few more weeks to receive antibiotics through an IV. His strength is coming back slowly. Thank you for continuing to lift Kyle up in prayer! Pray for Carolyn Watson who is suffering with COPD, along with other ailments. (Ginny Berry) Pray for Archie Weeks, husband of Wenda, who is a best friend to Bonnie Savage. Archie has lung cancer. His doctor is now talking about palliative care. Pray for Archie and Wenda during this difficult time in their lives. Pray for Linda Wells who is suffering with a severe case of shingles. We Celebrated and Worshiped with Music! We had an awesome day of worship on Sunday with 298 people in attendance! Below: Dr. Scott Neal was our Liturgist during the service.
