Thank you for helping us keep our church clean and tidy by keeping all the food and beverages in the Hospitality room (room #6) on Sunday mornings. A Word from the Pastor... Rev. Lisa V. Wood Were you there? is a beautiful song we often hear during Tenebrae, Good Friday, and services depicting Christ s passion. The last verse is often omitted, however, leaving us to dwell a little longer at the scene of the crucifixion and that s understandable. there is a time to weep But there is also a time to rejoice! And laugh! And leap and dance for joy! Jesus is risen and has appeared to his disciples except for Thomas. Poor Thomas! He came late to the party, but at least he came! This coming Sunday we will examine the blessing Thomas was to the group, doubts and all. We re not going to beat up on Thomas and sit in condemnation of him quite the contrary! Thomas had doubts, to be sure, but he also had a courageous faith. He showed up and remained in community with the others in spite of everything he d witnessed in the past week. The disciples and the group of believers were ushering in a new way of believing, of living, of being a New Covenant people. Some were doubtful, but they were all determined. They persevered in faithfully gathering together in worship, sharing what they had so no one went without, and loving each other. Sound familiar? There are many ways LRFF can relate to the early church. We re still in the early stages of discovering new, relevant ways of living in observance of our Lord s new commandment to love each other as God loves us; we re learning how to be a people of faith in community with each other. We re each a package deal of doubts, hopes, woundedness, and our unique senses of humor. Doesn t that make for a rich mix of fellowship? It s just another reason

We re Looking Forward April 5 (Thursday) Girl Scouts meet at 6:15 p.m. in Kearns Hall. Pictured here is Cathy Anderson (back row), one of our teachers, who knows just how important Children s Church is to our children. She has led Children s Church every Sunday in the month of March, as well as Easter Sunday. We have leaders who are willing to sacrifice their worship time so that they can minister to the children. Cathy is definitely one of those teachers. So, thank you, Cathy, for showing the love of Jesus to these kids. We love you and we re thankful for you and all our teachers at LRFF. We re also very thankful to see these sweet little faces!

Simon House is a nonprofit agency serving homeless adult women who are pregnant or have children as well as other low-income clients. In collaboration with other agencies and organizations, these women are provided a safe, stable, and healthy environment that encourages, educates and empowers them to become self-sufficient and productive members of our community.

Mr. Thomas T. Hammond (top left) is recognized as one of the leading network sports broadcasters in the United States. His work includes covering thoroughbred horse racing and play-by-play of the NBA, the WNBA, college basketball gymnastics, figure skating and the Orange Bowl. He was the play-by-play voice for Notre Dame football for 21 years. Mr. Larry Conley (bottom left) was named Kentucky s 2016 SEC Basketball Legend. He is a member of the UK basketball team famously known as Rupp s Runts. Mr. Conley helped lead the Wildcats to a 1966 national runner-up finish, a 27-2 record and an SEC championship. A member of the UK Athletics Hall of Fame, Conley went on to play a season in the American Basketball Association for the Kentucky Colonels before beginning a longtime and ongoing broadcasting career. He s called games for ESPN, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox Sports and Raycom Sports. We hope you will join us on the 21 st and bring a family member, neighbor or friend with you. Prayer Requests To add a prayer request, please fill out a Prayer Request card, call the church office at , or submit a prayer request or update online by going to Libertyroadfaithfellowship.org. Most requests are left in the bulletin and newsletter for 2 weeks or so and will be taken out as space is needed for other requests. If you want your request to remain in for a longer period of time...please provide updates. Pray for the family of John Compton. John went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 21 st. There will be a memorial service to honor our Mystery Dinner Theater to Benefit Simon House Simon House will host a Mystery Dinner Theater event on Friday, April 13, at 6:00 p.m. It will be held in the Parish Hall of the Church of the Ascension (Episcopal), 311 Washington Street, in Frankfort. The mystery that will be enacted is, Post Time for Murder. Kentucky Derby Winner and Preakness Winner, Big Black, is running the third leg of the Triple Crown at Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes. There are those who will do anything to stop him from racing! Those who can help solve the mystery will compete for valuable prizes. There will also be prizes for the lady wearing the best derby hat and the gentleman wearing the most festive sport jacket. Tickets are $40 and include the play and a delicious meal. If you are interested in attending, please see Ann Crowe for tickets ( home phone; church phone). All proceeds will benefit Simon House that provides housing and other services to homeless women and children and other low-income clients.

Visitation will be in the sanctuary from 9:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Pray for the family of Ruby Montgomery, age 89, (mother of Pat Potts) who went home to be with the Lord on March 27. Pray for Ron & Joyce Reaguer. Ron has a bad sinus infection. Joyce is waiting to be admitted to St. Joseph Hospital on Waller with the flu. Both are very sick and appreciate your prayers on their behalf. Pray for Charlene Legere, whose mother died suddenly last week after experiencing complications from a fall. Charlene is a dear friend of Cathy Anderson. Pray for the Hernandez family in the death of Taunya, age 41, wife of Eddie and mother of 3, Lexington. Taunya had their 3 rd child last week and died of what doctors think was a blood clot. Her husband and children are devastated. (Karen Maudsley worked with Taunya years ago.) 7 broke her hip and is recovering from surgery. Pray for Sandy Singley who is undergoing chemo treatments every 3 weeks. Pray for Grayden Spoonamore who fell and broke his back. He underwent surgery last week and is currently at Cardinal Hill. Pray also for his wife, Sandy, during this time. Pray for Harold Lawson who was recently hospitalized with heart issues. Harold is now home, but still needs prayers for strength and healing. Pray for Silver Simpson who is having multiple health issues. Pray also for his wife, Jean, who cares for him. In Memory of Dorotha... There will be a Remembrance of Life event for Dorotha Smith Oatts, on Tuesday, May 8 th at 4:00 p.m. at the Arboretum in Lexington for family and friends. Those who wish to honor her memory, may make contributions to the Dorotha Smith Oatts endowment fund at

Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience loving water the gospel of Jesus Christ which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. Their Core Values are to be intentional to: HONOR GOD, DEVELOP PEOPLE, PURSUE EXCELLENCE and to BE GOOD STEWARDS. Clean water is something that you and I take for granted each and every day. On October 7, 2018 we will take an offering for this much needed ministry. We are asking you to start saving your change now. When you go through a drive through, put your change in the console of your car. When you take change out of your pockets in the evenings, put your change in a zip lock bag. Start doing that now and by the time October 7 rolls around, there is no telling how much change you will have collected to donate. In a few weeks we will have cups available that you will be able to use to put your change in. But you don t have to limit yourself to one cup. This may be just change to us, but to those who do not have clean water, every quarter, nickel, dime, and penny is a treasure! I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. Matthew 25:35b

Blood Pressure Checks Each Sunday We want to remind everyone that we offer blood pressure checks each Sunday morning in the back of the overflow section.
