Sanctuary Decorations By Hope Spoonamore If anyone would like to help with sanctuary decorations on the Saturday before we hold our Hanging of the Greens service, we will meet in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25. Directory pictures that have been purchased can be picked up at Church from Ron Curtis this coming Sunday, November 12 from the hours of 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. and from 12 Noon till 1:00 p.m. This will be on a first come, first serve basis.

2 We re Looking Forward November 9 (Thursday) Girl Scout troop meets in the kitchen area of Kearns Hall at 6:15 p.m. November 9 (Thursday) Women of Faith meets at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Carolyn Blair, 1917 Blairmore Road. This will be the last meeting for the Women of Faith until March, November 12 (Sunday) Those who have purchased directory pictures from Ron Curtis can pick them up in the foyer from the hours of 9-11 a.m. and 12 noon 1:00 p.m. November 15 (Wednesday) Safety Committee meeting at 4:00 p.m. November 16 (Thursday) Girl Scout troop meets in the kitchen area of Kearns Hall. Purchase Poinsettias on November 12 If you would like to place a poinsettia in honor or in memory of a loved one, please see Valda May on Sunday, November 12, in the foyer to sign up. The cost is $8.00 per poinsettia. You can make your check out to Liberty Road Faith Fellowship and write Poinsettia in the memo section of your check. Be sure to fill out information so that we can place an insert in the bulletin on Christmas Eve to honor your loved one(s). There is only room for 30 poinsettias, so it s first come, first serve. The poinsettias will be placed in the sanctuary at our Hanging of the Greens service. Our Thanksgiving Meal will be Sunday, November 19 By Carolyn Blair, Social Committee Chair Be sure to sign up now for our Thanksgiving Meal on Sunday, November 19, in Kearns Hall, immediately following our morning worship. This is not a potluck. This meal is provided by the church and graciously prepared by our Social Committee. There is no charge for the meal. However, we do ask that you make a donation that will be given to God s Pantry. Call Norma in the church office, , to get your name on the list for our Thanksgiving meal or sign up at church. Anyone interested in helping can meet in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. November 26 (Saturday) Hanging of the Greens service at 6:00 p.m. Grateful Hearts By Paul and Carol Taylor Paul and I feel blessed to be a part of such a generous church. Am I talking about dollars? No, I am talking about ministry and missions. Liberty Road Faith Fellowship is abundant in talent and in people willing to give of their time. As I began to list some of the ways we have seen this congregation invest their gifts and talents for God s kingdom, I was truly humbled. Many have served on the Board and committees. There are singers, those who play instruments and those who teach Sunday School. We have Martha s Ministry, Samaritan s Purse, Living Waters, writing to those in the military. Others build, plan events, take pictures, cut bushes, pick up trash, prepare the flowers and communion, arrange for donuts and coffee and offer social events. We help with hurricane and flood relief. The list goes on and on. We truly are the hands, feet, eyes, ears, and body of Christ on earth. We believe God is calling each of us to invest in the present and future mission of this church through, not only ministry and missions, but also through our prayers and financial resources. Winston Churchill once said, We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. One thing we probably all agree on as we get older is that riches do not bring health, happiness or security. Christ makes it very clear that our attitude toward our earthly assets affects our investment in eternity. We are to use what we ve been given to feed,

Matthew 6:19 reminds us Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Pledging generously to one s church is part of a person s faith journey. Please pray for our 2018 Stewardship Campaign and think about how lives can be transformed through our gifts. Also consider all the ways we have been blessed through this church and through our fellowship with each other, and then make a generous and grateful gift that will help continue the vision we have for this church s future. Coming Soon -- Mitten/Gloves and Tobbogan Tree Our Women s Fellowship is sponsoring a Mitten/Gloves and Tobbogan Tree that will be available in the foyer no later than the First Sunday of Advent, December 3. All mittens, gloves and toboggans that are donated will be given to children at Liberty Elementary, as well as Yates Elementary. So, if you see some mittens or tobbogans while you are Christmas shopping, we would appreciate it if you would contribute. December 26 (Tuesday) Church office closed in observance of the

Prayer Requests To add a prayer request, please fill out a Prayer Request card, call the church office at , or submit a prayer request or update online by going to Libertyroadfaithfellowship.org. In order to keep a request on for more than a few weeks, please provide us with an update. Please pray for Pat Potts and family as they prepare to place Pat s mother, age 89, in Hospice Care, that God would comfort her mom and them in a special way. Bridge Meeting Sunday, December 3 at 2 p.m. By Carolyn Blair Everyone who is interested in playing Bridge once a month starting in 2018, please sign up on the table outside the church office, or call one of the people listed below. 6 knee. Vicki is very thankful that her mother does not have to have surgery. Pray for Phyllis McCarty, who has a broken vertebra. She has chosen to wear a brace for 6 months until it heals. Please remember Phyllis in prayer that God would bring healing and strength. Pray for Nanci Barnhart, sister-inlaw of Ginny Berry, that God would comfort and heal her. Pray that doctors can manage Nanci s pain. Pray for Ona Lawson, sister-in-law of Frances Lawson, who broke her leg recently in 3 places and has undergone surgery at Baptist Health to place a rod in her leg. Ona is in her early 80 s and there is concern for her healing. Pray for Hubert Wiseman, father of Karen Roser, who has been in and out of the hospital due to issues with his blood pressure. He is on a list for a room at Thompson Hood in Wilmore. Karen retired November 1 st in order to help with the 24 hour care that he needs. Pray for Hubert and for Karen during this time. A Successful Trunk or Treat! Kids really don t care if the adults dress up or not, as long as they hand out that candy! Pictured above is Paul Engelbrecht, who does everything with that pleasant personality of his and a smile. Trunk or Treat was a huge success this year with 10 trunks and approximately 100 children and their families. A special thanks to Lois and Richard Baber, Jackie and David Bondurant, Mitch Borders, Helen and Lyen Crews, Paul Engelbrecht, Bob Quisenberry, Mary Anne Pollock, Scot Reeves, Wayne Sullivan, and Sue Thompson. We also want to thank church members who donated candy. We pray that this was truly an outreach from Liberty Road Faith Fellowship to those children and their families.

7 Pray for Paddy Claypoole, Vicki Brown s mother, as she recovers from a procedure last week to help manage pain. Pray that she regains strength and is able to take care of matters in Florida. Pray for Glenda Christian, Vicki Brown s sister, that she would have continued healing and reduced swelling in her left arm as she recovers from her surgery for a lymph node transplant. Pray for Bill Worrell, who is now at Homestead Nursing Center on Versailles Road. Praise for a good outcome for the Nalle family, who have legally adopted little Mary, who has a rare form of Epilepsy and needs treatment. The Nalles are with Mary now in Ukraine and will return to the United States as soon as various matters are taken care of. (Booker) Pray for our Service men and women who are active and also for our veterans who deal with difficult health issues every day as a result of their service to their country. Pray for our Pastor Search Does this guy look familiar to you? I wonder who this could be? He looks vaguely similar to someone in our church. Maybe it s the beard.

The Women s Fellowship would like to start a Bible Study AFTER the first of the year IF there is enough interest to do so. If you are interested in participating please check the sheet on the table in the foyer outside the front office that will offer the following dates/times. -Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. -Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. -Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Write in your name and check which date/time works best for you. Faith from the Front Porch By Jackie Bondurant The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. Psalm 145:15 Our street is so filled with the blessings of friendship and love of neighbors that I often take it for granted. Our driveway is next to our neighbors drive and our yards are open with shared flower beds and trees. We also host a Derby Party together sharing driveways, yards, and houses. This year, two days before the party, I went to feed the fish in the pond and found them floating not swimming. They were all dead. We were down to six fish, but they had survived for many years and were good sized. The pond man came and cleaned, but he had no notion of what caused their death. The filter, the water lilies, and the pond itself was covered in a gray scum. Later, we figured it was our neighbors decision to spray for mosquitos. No problem. We talked it over and now we have a plan. What we have learned from this incident is the importance of the circle of life. The spray that kills mosquitos also kills all insects and some small animals like birds within a 50 feet radius. This includes the bees which play a major role in the food chain and that affects us all!
