Tickets in is section are selling on e internet for $475 each! The tickets come wi 2 seats on e Oregon Club of Portland bus at will transport you from e Wilsonville Holiday Inn and back, plus entry to e Oregon Club tailgater for food and beverages before e game. The Ducks will have 9 games "under eir wings" and could well be on eir way to a PAC-12 or even a National Championship! 5 FINANCE COUNCIL AUGUST 7, 2014 MINUTES Attendance: Fr. Mayo, Chair & Host Patty McIntyre, Project Team Chair Kimball Ferris, Gary Haven, Jay Johnson, Andrea Baffaro, Erick Dennis and Dave McDermott. Meeting was started at 6:30 P.M. wi prayer lead by Fr. Mayo and meal hosted by Patty. Fr. Mayo updated Council on membership. As of now, Mike Waddell will be joining e Council and one oer invitation is pending. He also noted at e Archdiocese is completing a periodic review of e parish s administrative procedures, finances, etc. The preliminary report is encouraging. Patty outlined e reason for is impromptu meeting which is to find ways to reduce any risk to building campaign funds which are currently invested wi e Archdiocese Equity Trust account which has exposure to e vagaries of stock market. Fr. Mayo summarized a letter from e AD at discussed options and provided some advice regarding investment choices. Erick discussed an option wi a local institution at would utilize a laddered CD investment structure whereby funds would be split and invested into CD wi staggered maturities. There is minimal risk of loss but funds are locked into e investments until e CDs mature. Kimball noted at keeping e principal protected is key and clarified at e Archdiocese is a strategic partner and it would be preferred if funds could remain invested wi e AD. Patty noted at ere may be some appetite for risk as e market has performed very well and St. Michael has benefitted from it. Patty sought Council members advice/input. Council provided input. Dave motioned at funds be temporarily placed in e short term investment fund wi e AD (lower risk) until a more permanent option was available. Gary seconded. Council was in unanimous favor. Fr. Mayo and Patty requested at e Finance Council meeting on September 25 be used to determine a more permanent investment option (if any). Baffaro (Host), Erick Dennis, Mike Waddell and Tom Gordon wi Dave McDermott being excused. Meeting was started at 6:30 P.M. wi prayer lead by Fr. Mayo and meal hosted by Andrea. Patty motioned at accounting software be upgraded to 2014 version which will automatically provide a free 2015 upgrade when e time comes. Jay seconded e motion. Council was unanimous in favor. Discussion moved to e key component of e meeting; seeking alternatives to Archdiocese Long Term Equity investment fund as a way to reduce potential loss of funds collected from e building campaign. Jay motioned at 25% of funds be deposited into LT Equity Investments and 75% of funds remain in low risk investments to protect principal. Gary seconded. Council was unanimous in favor. Patty noted offertory was below budget. It was also discussed at Council approved a deficit budget considering e ongoing building campaign. Patty noted at she'll be organizing a weekend to solicit Automatic ACH sign up from parishioners. On e weekend of 10/18-19 ere will be a preliminary discussion at all Masses and on e weekend of 10/25-26 we will solicit sign ups. Fr. Mayo, Patty and Erick updated Council on e building project. Ft. Mayo noted at fund-raising will continue. Fr. Mayo continued by noting at additional staff will be needed to maintain fund-raising chores and organization. Wiout at help, contributions will go down. Fr. Mayo updated Council about e Financial Review performed by e Archdiocese. The review provided good feedback and did not find any materially negative issues but provided recommendations to improve a few areas. Fr. Mayo and Office Manager will be working on ese as time goes on. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M. The next meeting scheduled for October 23rd. November meeting rescheduled for December 4 so ere will be no meeting on Thanksgiving Day! The meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M. SEPTEMBER 25, 2014 MINUTES Attendance: Fr. 6 Dear Fellow Parishioners and Friends of St. Michael Parish, The Finance Council wishes to express its gratitude for e many gifts you share wi our parish community. This weekend we as a Council are asking you to update your parish contact information, identify areas where you would like to serve, and make a new commitment to your Offertory Gift. While we hope you had an opportunity for respite is glorious summer, you probably have noticed at as of October 5 our Sunday Giving is down versus a year-to-date budget ($7,761). As we draw ever closer to realizing our dreams for a restoration and strengening of our parish church and facilities, it is important at we maintain e services of St Michael s by reaching our operating budget weekly revenue goals. The Finance Council recognizes at travel, and local events, can sometimes prevent us from attending St Michael s every week; however, you can ensure your support of our ministries by using eier of two electronic options to give: ACH & E-giving. A comparison of ese two meods of automated giving is on e reverse side of is letter. We as a Council prayerfully ask you to consider making an additional offering to make up e current Offertory shortfall, and commit to an increase to your Sunday Offering in order to sustain our ministries in is important transitional year for e parish. Beyond Offering Envelopes, Checks, & Loose Cash For several years e parish has offered automated clearing house (ACH) transfers from checking or savings accounts, for ose who wish to have a specified amount directed to St Michael e st rd Archangel Caolic Church once or twice a mon (on 1 &/or 3 Wednesdays). Now e parish offers anoer way to give electronically wi e-giving online, at our e-giving site: What is e difference between e two? Mainly, wi e-giving you have e option of paying wi credit or debit cards, in addition to checking or savings. Below is a table which outlines key differences between e two options. Who inputs & maintains data, & where? Is regular, recurring donations possible?
