Main Street, PO Box 358, Mulberry, IN (cell) secretary@trinitychurchofmulberry.org Dear Trinity Church Family, Every 2 nd Sunday in May we celebrate our mothers. Mother s Day is a day to express our love and gratitude for all the women in our lives; for example, our mothers, grandmothers & wives. I, personally, have a lot to be thankful for all the love, care & wonderful things my mother, grandmothers and Deb have given to me. My mother s love for Jesus and others has been an important example that I try to follow. At Trinity, we have many wonderful women who have given much of their love, time, money, gifts and abilities for the good of the church. We are continually blessed by the women who call Trinity their spiritual home, and I for one am incredibly thankful for all they do, such as teaching Sunday school, fundraising, participating in Bible study, community and service projects, social and fellowship times, helping with children s time, music, hospitality, cleaning, decorating, cooking, and serving as leaders in roles like an Elder or Deaconess. If I were to list all the ways and things the women of our church participate, it would be an ever-expanding list that would never end. Many women in the Bible have contributed in big ways to the Christian faith. Their contributions have been sadly ignored, overlooked or marginalized; however, without them the church would have died or failed in its mission long ago. One such example is this; the very first person to see the resurrected Lord was Mary Magdalene with other women. The very same women who saw the Glorified Christ were also the first to spread the good news (or Gospel) to others. I think it is about time for all Christians to acknowledge the many contributions and sacrifices women have made for Christianity and simply say: thank-you. To everyone who is serving or has served in the Armed Forces, as well as their families. We appreciate your sacrifices. Thank you! To all of our mothers! We would not be the people we are today without you. I want to thank everyone who helped make my 90th birthday a happy one, with your cards and visiting with me at my party. A special thanks to Vicki and Taryn for helping with the clean up. I love all of you. Estel Rex Fish/Chicken Fry The Women s Guild first fish/chicken fry was a huge success. We served 367 meals on Tuesday evening, April 17 th from 4:30-7:00! There were approximately 40 people from our congregation (all ages) who helped in different capacities during the day. We started around 1:00 pm with fish and chicken breaders. There were many desserts to get cut and put out on plates as well as slaw and applesauce to be dished up. Clean-up was pretty easy which was appreciated. The date for our next fry will be forthcoming. THANKS to all who helped in any way, it was truly appreciated. It would not have run as smoothly without the congregation s willingness to do whatever needed to be done. It is tiring to put on an event like this, but the fellowship is so worth it. There were 4 generations working together, what a blessing you all are. Committee Co-Chairs, Debie, Paula and Margie Thought for the Month: I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. 4 Stone Soup Food Pantry Everything you donate makes a! For May, the food pantry is asking the Trinity family for the following items: Tuna Helper Hamburger Helper We will collect items until May 20th. The Stone Soup Food Pantry will be open on May 15th from 4-6pm and May 16th from 9-11am. Thank you for all of the support and prayers! Out of Town Pastor Phil and Deb will be out of town on May 31st-June 4th. If you have an emergency please call Nick Wainscott at If you have something for Pastor Phil, please call the church and leave a voic . He will be in touch as soon as he can after returning from the trip. Church Camp Out! We are planning a church camp out again this year for June at Turkey Run State Park. The Bennetts will be the host again this year. Reservations will need to be made right away in order to all be grouped together. We have reserved camp site 97. If you need help with getting your reservations let us know. If you are not a camper and there is no room at the Turkey Run Inn here are some other options: Economic Lodge in Rockville Comfort Inn in Crawfordsville Ramadan Inn in Crawfordsville Super 8 in Crawfordsville Sugar Valley Cabins across from Turkey Run (reservations begin April 1) These are primitive cabins. Get your reservations made then we can start planning (We will have a meeting in the spring) Possible activities may include: Zip line Canyoning Swimming Scavenger Hunt Make a walking stick Games Shopping at an Amish store (S) Looking forward to a great weekend of fellowship! 5 TRINITY CHURCH OF MULBERRY COUNCIL MEETING March 12, 2018 President Nick Wainscott called the meeting to order. Other members in attendance were Valerie Bennett, Kelley Burkhalter, Heather Garriott, Julie Poffenbarger, Eric Ramsey, Jeff Sigler, and Margie Stein. Deb Whisler attended as a guest. Heather read two selections from worthydevotions.com Kelley moved to accept the February 12, 2018 minutes, Jeff seconded and motion was carried. Kelly moved to accept 2/14 electronic communication, Jeff seconded and motion carried. Jeff moved to accept 3/7 electronic communication, Heather seconded and motion was carried. Correspondence: Mulberry Easter Egg Hunt sent a letter requesting a donation to this year s event. This was voted on via electronic communication and the check had been sent prior to meeting. IU Health information letter received due to being on a mailing list Old Business: Easter Breakfast- Rick and Paula Bennett volunteered to host the Easter breakfast. Kelley moved for reimbursement for the cost of supplies and for church family to help with cleanup. Margie seconded and motion carried. Easter Week- Church is hosting Maundy Thursday service, Good Friday service, Easter breakfast and one service Easter morning. Readers and help with communion was needed on Thursday as well as two greeters for Friday. Security update- Doors will continue to be locked on Sunday mornings. A suggestion for a new committee to be formed (i.e Response Committee). This committee would need to be volunteers from both services and would discuss what to do in various emergency situations. They would consider having designated people with training for emergency response. There is also discussion of adding a security camera, a buzzer to signal people downstairs of danger, and having cordless phones placed in various spots throughout the sanctuary. Nick moved to purchase a set of four cordless phone for the church, Kelley seconded and motion carried. New Business Updates to Gas Line Rd- The town is being awarded funds to do updates along Gas Line Rd and add in sidewalks. These updates will affect our parking lot, which means the fence will have to be removed. The parking lot will be potentially affected on the south side. More information will become available as the town receives it. Church Directory- It has been brought to our attention of the desire to have an updated church directory. We are looking into the possibilities of how this could be done. Shelving Unit- Paula Bennett would like to purchase a shelving unit for basement storage. Margie moved to allow the purchase of one, Eric seconded and motion carried. Information folder to be placed in sound booth. Memorial Bench- Looking into various possibilities of having bench made for memorial garden made out of bottle caps similar to the ones Clinton Prairie is having made for the school. Trustees Report: Furnace Replacement- Both furnaces for the sanctuary have been replaced. Yard and Snow Removal- Lawn Beauty could do snow removal but will not guarantee salt and removal on sidewalks for Sunday mornings. They are willing to sell us bags of salt at their cost which would not be as harsh on the sidewalks if we use their services for snow removal. We are still waiting on a quote for mowing. Pastor s Report: Vacation- Phil and Deb will be gone 4/2-4/9. Nick will do the sermon on 4/8. Trinity is hosting VBS this year. The proposed dates are 7/16-7/20. Paula Bennett and Valerie Bennett are doing the crafts. Fish Fry- Ticket sales will be coming. We are providing slaw and desserts.
