1 St. Anthny s Cathlic Church Parish Pastral Cuncil Meeting Minutes Octber 17, 2017 Attendance: Father Matt, Dan A, Mary, Cindy, Becky, Betty A. Opening prayer by Father Matt B. Apprve minutes f August, September meeting- C. Old business Hmeless shelter- Light at the Inn-Dan will find ut when we can attend a cnference call with the city attrney and a municipal attrney fr the state. We will be able t find ut what barriers there are fr us prceeding t be a hst facility fr Light at the Inn. Father Matt is crdinating with Mr. Busley n a meeting with the Parish cuncil and the city. -Pending meeting date frm City- Dan will call city president. Church cleanliness Lri and Dan A. have been cleaning carpet in sectins; Sacristan area and Library t be dnein prgress; Flrs need t be cleaned-pending. Banners fr Pillars- t be dne after current paintings are cmpleted-mary t measure, design and get help as needed. Kathy Recla has vlunteered t help. Mary brught material t meeting with design measurements. They will be given t Kathy Recla and Lri Aderman t make the banners. Parish Picnic Date- August 13 th The picnic had a gd turn ut with a lt f great fd. There were many baskets dnated fr the private auctin as well as a park bench. Other events were a water balln slingsht and the crn hle turnament. A gd time was had by all. Thank yu cards are needed. Dnna Mreau s name was mentined as a pssible member and an issue f cnflict f interest was mentined. The Dicese s plicy states that nly ne immediate family member may serve n the finance cuncil r the pastral cuncil at the same time s this wuld nt be pssible while Bill is serving n the finance cuncil. Gals fr present year- (see attached)-majrity f the gals have been accmplished r addressed. We have nt succeeded at increasing ur attendance. The change in Saturday mass times had the ppsite effect than was expected. New gals will be set fr Members discussed many pssible gals. The Parish Cuncil will participate in the Alpha Prgram during their Parish cuncil meeting after the first f the year. The meeting will be held at a member s huse and will cnsist f dinner, a 20 minute presentatin and fllwing discussin. N ther gals were agreed upn and this will cntinue at the next meeting. There are sme inventries n the Dicese Web page. Please review and bring ideas t the meeting. Other issues- Vlunteers fr Lins Club Picnic Dnna Mreau -Need a thank yu- Father Matt- Dne Missinary Disciples Alpha prgram. Je Tremblay will be cming t Niagara t train select representatives t start their training this year. One r tw members frm each grup t cmmit t attending a Nvember 9 th meeting. It will invlve meeting 11 times fr abut 2 hurs. Dan vlunteered t have the first meeting at his hme. Raffle t help with biler csts-dan Decker presented infrmatin n a raffle t help with the biler csts. Dan Aderman will help rganize and parish cuncil members will help sell ticket. Have the Fund raising cmmittee apprve. Apprved Pasty sale- Dnna Mreau and Lri Aderman are rganizing a pasty sale with the prceeds t g twards the lan n the bilers. Preliminary plans are t start presales in Octber. They will start the prep wrk in the church hall n Friday, Nv. 3. Make/bake them in the hall n Nv. 4 with pick up at the hall later that day. They will be able t use sme help n Nvember 3 rd and 4 th. Details will be frwarded when the plan is finalized. Orders will be accepted until Nvember 21 st. $5.00 per pasty. Cap at 500. D. New business Gals fr 2018 Missinary Disciples- Parish Cuncil members t cmplete Alpha prgram- A White paper n Making Missinary Disciples was distributed at the meeting and will be brken int 3 parts. Pages 1-13 will be read by the members befre then Nvember 28 th meeting and discussin will be held. Pages will be discussed in December and pages 25-29will be discussed in January. Father Matt will have a Christmas letter fr the cuncil t review/edit befre we send it ut t all f ur (newly streamlined list f) parishiners. There will als be a fllw-up registratin card and discipleship

2 survey sent ut in this mailing (highlighting ur Parish Visin and Missin Statement). The letter was nicely dne and apprved by the members Christmas Letter t Parishiners.dcx Cindy and Betty attended the Discipleship training day in Marinette, and culd give us a little reprt n that. Cindy and Betty stated we have dne a lt f what was discussed already including St Vincent DePaul and the fd pantry. We will have a descriptin f a discipleship frmatin prcess used by FOCUS (Fellwship f Cathlic University Students) printed ut fr each f the members f the cuncil. I wuld like t use this as a study dcument fr the cuncil t discuss at ur upcming meetings as we prepare t enter the Alpha prgram tgether. We culd break it dwn int three parts (Pages 1-13; Pages 14-24; and Pages 25-29) t pray ver tgether ver ur next 3 meetings. Dawn already has these printed ut fr us, but I've als attached a cpy here. Last year a lady called the ffice and vlunteered her services t crdinate a craft shw in the hall. I spke with Nada (prnunced nay-duh ) tday and this is her prpsitin... She will cntact the crafters and prvide a cntract She will set up and rganize the space that we allt fr the crafters; mapping ut the area She recmmends $20 per 10x10 space and charge $5 per table

We need t advertise the event in any and all ways pssible - crafters will nt cme back again if we dn t prvide gd ft traffic At this pint I need t knw wh is in n this. These ne-day seminars are designed t help key parish vlunteer leaders understand the challenges in frming disciples f Jesus Christ and the cnnectin between evangelizatin, catechesis, parish life, and missin within the discipleship prcess. As part f the jurney int discipleship and in respnse t Ppe Francis' call t be "missinary disciples," Bishp Ricken has asked all key parish vlunteer leaders t attend a Reginal Discipleship Frmatin Seminar. These vlunteer leaders include

6 trustees, chairs f the parish cuncil, finance cuncil, educatin cmmittee, wrship cmmittee, evangelizatin cmmittee, and thers the pastr/pastral leader designates. The Discipleship Frmatin Seminar will explain the cmmn ppsitin t frming disciples f Jesus Christ, as well as the relatinship between evangelizatin, catechesis, parish life, and missin in the discipleship prcess. The seminars, including lunch, refreshments, and resurces, are free thrugh a generus grant frm the Cathlic Fundatin.
