I would like to thank all of the officers from the past year for the great job you have done. I would also like to thank all of the new officers for stepping up to help for our new year. I would like to thank all the members who came out to attend our Installation of new Officers on April 1st. I will be looking for volunteers to chair, as well as join our many committees. If you wish to join, leave a note in our mailbox, and I will give it to the proper chairmen. On March 4th, the Range Committee held its annual antique gun show. It was a huge success. I would like to thank Dave Holmes chairing, and the Range Committee for selling hot dogs and hamburgers. On March 8th, the Lodge held its annual PER night where 16 new members were initiated. Thank you to all the PER s who attended this special ritual. On March 25th Doug Kehl held his annual German night. I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped him. I would also like to thank Tom Underwood for the fine job he did as Trustee for the past 3 years. He has done so much that has gone unnoticed, but greatly appreciated. I would like to welcome Chuck House as our new 5 year trustee. On Saturday, April 8th, at 9AM we will be having our annual Spring Clean-Up, run by Dave Bassette, PER. Lunch will be served to those who come to help clean. Bring any landscaping equipment needed to help. All volunteers are welcome. Rain date will be April 22nd. On April 29th, Tom Harkins will be hosting our annual Early Bird Dinner at 6PM. This event is open to any member who paid their dues prior to April 1st. Mon. Only members who have a current dues card can receive the new combination from the bartender. Lastly, I would like to thank Mike Dondi and Mike Dudzinski for hanging up all of the plaques in the lounge, and assembling the new bar stools for the lounge. ELK OF THE MONTH David Bassette, PER April s Elk of the Month goes to David Bassette, PER. He could be found at the Lodge doing something everyday. He would help in the kitchen and clean up the grounds. You could also find him playing pool with his family and friends. Thank you for everything you have done at the Lodge. So visit us at facebook.com/glastonburyelks2202. Spring Clean Up It s that time of year for Spring clean-up. Volunteers needed: Bring your leaf blowers, rakes, tarps & barrels. Lawn needs thatching, blowing and some spots need dirt seeding. Pond needs some TLC Parking lot needs to be cleaned Lunch will be served, the more the merrier. Saturday April 8th - 9:00AM, with the rain date set Sunday the April 22nd. Volunteers are not worthless, they are priceless. 3 M a n c h e s t e r, C T Call Bill Wolfe for rates (860) L e a v e a m e s s a g e By-Law Change Approved We have recently been notified our recent change to our bylaws for the increase in the Initiation Fee to $150 has been approved by the Grand Lodge Judiciary. What this means to you as a current member, no change; however, as of 04/01/2017 if you propose a new member for initiation, the amount submitted with the application will be $50, with the remaining due upon initiation night. This will NOT go back to any application the s office has on hand. Again, only those as of 04/01/2017, and forward. The following is a link to the by-laws, and we will not be printing any new ones at this time. As you ll see the full amount is reflected; yet as I stated earlier, this will not be the case when submitting any new applications. We will correct this the next time we submit by-law changes. Your By-Laws may now be accessed online by any member of your lodge through your elks.org Virtual Home page: Note that a user name and password is required, and access through this link is restricted to lodge members only. Members who don't yet have a password may register online at: Range Committee It is my pleasure to introduce Paul Labieniec as the Lodge s Range Chairman for the Lodge year. Pfaffenbach 29 Jeff Pell 30 From the s Desk As we enter the new Lodge year, the final numbers, minus any those members we dropped for non-payment who reinstate within the first 60 days are as follows: Beginning Membership 04/01/2016 = 705 Number of Elks added to the rolls = 118 Number of Elks dropped (non-payment, etc) = 57 Membership as of 04/01/2017 = 766 As of this writing, there are some 200 members who have not paid dues for Lodge Year For those of you who have, thank you! Sunday Trap Shooting If you have your own shotgun, bring it! If you don't have your own one will be available for you to borrow. Eye and ear protection are recommended, and can be purchased on site. I d like to thank you all! Our next breakfast will be April 9th, and we should then be back on our regular schedule of every two weeks. See you there! Easter Basket Raffle This year (thanks to Sherry Perleoni) we ll be raffling off an Easter basket filled with goodies (just guess!). This will be in support of the State Major Project, Connecticut Children s Medical Center. Each year, the State Association donates $100,000 to CCMC, and this money is raised vai events like this. So, please purchase your tickets! Of course I d like to thank all the volunteers who showed up to support this breakfast, and they are: Mark Curtin, Doug and Louise Beeghly, Mike Bryan, David Poulin, Lisa Darby, Paul Regish, Dylan Bassette, Stewart Sylvia and Mike Dudz Dudzinski. Breakfast Committee Chair The drawing will take place on April 15, 2017 at 7:00PM. Tickets are being sold for $5 for six tickets. Jory Pagliughi House Committee Chair Early Bird Dinner This year s Early Bird dinner will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 5PM. This event is open (free) to any member who has paid their dues prior to April 1st. The cost for any guest is only $5. Dinner will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, etc! 7 Reminder! To those members with ATV s, dirt bikes, etc. The grounds are OFF LIMITS for riding. This only causes the grounds to be damaged which impacts our rental of the pavilion. Any member found riding on the property is subject to disciplinary actions. For $125 a year, you can have advertise your business here!
