I am David Bassette, Jr., your new Exalted Ruler for this year. I would like to take the time out and thank all the people that came up in voted for the new officers to be elected this year. I would like to thank Mike Perleoni, PER for his tenure as an officer as he finished his five-year trustee position. Additionally, I would like to welcome Jory Pagliughi for his replacement on the Board of Trustees. Initiation of new officers will be held Friday April 1st at 6 o'clock. After the ceremony dinner will be served for all the people who participated in the ceremony. I will try to make this another good year at Glastonbury Lodge 2202, but I will need the help from all members whether it's work that needs to be done at the lodge or whether it is selling tickets for a dinner just remember volunteers are not worthless they are priceless. On April 23rd we will be having a ham dinner that will be $10 a person, see more details later on in this month s Upstart! On April 16th will be having our grounds clean up at the Elks Lodge starting at 9AM. Lunch will be served to all the volunteers which help out, either the grounds around the lodge or the range, please show up if you would like to help out on making the grounds a little nicer! On April 30th will be having our Early Bird dinner for those members who have paid before April 1st. Show an early bird sticker on your card to receive a free dinner. Coming up in May will be holding an Elks job fair to sign up to help out on many of the committees/functions that we have going on throughout the year. I can personally say I never helped out at a function and not had a good time. If all you can help out for is a few hours (which is fine) you will not be shunned, you will be thanked for helping out in any way! I will do my best to be the Exalted Ruler which you would appreciate, but as I Mon. I will be more than happy to sit down and listen to any idea you have for the lodge, but remember it's not coming up with the idea which is the problem, the problem is not completing that idea with all the tasks that come with it. You can usually find me at the bar on any given Saturday night or after any Wednesday night meeting. Thank you all for your time and I hope to see you up and some of the functions at the Lodge. ELK OF THE MONTH Cindy Coville, PER April s Elk of the Month goes to Cindy Coville, PER. She was the Exalted Ruler for the previous year. Volunteers needed: Bring your leaf blowers, rakes, tarps & barrels. Lawn needs thatching, blowing and some spots need dirt seeding. Pond needs some TLC Parking lot needs to be cleaned Lunch will be served, the more the merrier. Saturday April 16th - 9:00AM, with the rain date set Sunday the April 17th. Sunday Trap Shooting If you have your own shotgun, bring it! If you don't have your own one will be available for you to borrow. Eye and ear protection are recommended, and can be purchased on site.
