People talk about loving their job, their car, I ve even heard people say I love sarsaparilla although I can t imagine why! Jesus says that we are to love one another. Not like loving a drink, a job or a spouse. It means to care for, want the best for another. To respect, respond with kindness, encourage another. Jerry Bridges wrote the book The Practice of Godliness in which he rephrases the virtues of love from 1 Corinthians 13 in terms of motivational statements. Shared a few Sundays ago but they are worth further reflection. Actually, I wonder what our week would look like if we put at least one of these into action each day? I am patient with you because I love you and want to forgive you. I am kind to you because I love you and want to help you. I do not envy your possessions or your gifts because I love you and want you to have the best. I do not boast about my attainments because I love you and want to hear about yours. I am not proud because I love you and want to esteem you before myself. I am not rude because I love you and care about your feelings. I am not self-seeking because I love you and want to meet your needs. I am not easily angered by you because I love you and want to overlook your offenses. I do not keep a record of wrongs because I love you, and love covers a multitude of sins. Corps Officers: Major Dean Clarke Major Vicki Clarke Love you. Dean Major The Salvation Army Brisbane 167 Ann Street Brisbane 4000 Ph:
2 Prayer Partners Diary Australia Eastern Territory I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. Dawna Markova TODAY We will focus upon these three things, Micah 6:8 instructs God's people to "act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God" under the leadership of the MASIC team. MASIC, the Moral and Social Issues (Ethics) Council, discuss The Salvation Army position on major social and moral issues. Positional statements are available that provide guidance to Salvationists and information for the public on our stance, based upon Scriptures and the principles underlying.
