1 Dear Friends, The Prayer Diary has become an important part of the spiritual heart of the territory. We are indebted to you for your ongoing commitment to praying for the various ministries and personnel who support these services around our great Australia Southern Territory. Every week people are getting saved, and every week people are getting helped, this is what we do, this is the reason for which the Army exists and our people are dependent upon the prayers of others. The purpose for which The Salvation Army exists today has not changed throughout the years and neither must it be allowed to become obscure. We are still a Salvation Army, getting them saved and keeping them saved is our business. May God bless you all Raymond A. Finger Commissioner TERRITORIAL COMMANDER Prayer is the soul s sincere desire uttered or unexpressed Dear Friends, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In 1986 I entered The International Training College in London. Within weeks of being at the Training College a group of officers from Korea came to talk to the cadets about the power of prayer in the Korean Territory. It was so evident by their demeanour that prayer was the foundation of their lives. The Korean Officers left us with a statement about prayer that I have never forgotten:- Much Prayer Much Power Little Prayer Little Power No Prayer No Power How often this profound but simple statement about prayer has been a reality in my own life. I pray that the Prayer Diary will allow you to spend some quality time with The Lord, and that you will also come to the realisation that Much Prayer brings Much Power. Approval has been given to register The Salvation Army in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia. Give thanks for Lovehaven Children s Home and Day Care Centre which has been opened in Bintulu, and for the new wing at Ipoh Children s Home, offering specialized facilities for older girls to learn independent living skills Pray for the development of the work in Sabah Pray for the development of a further two corps plants in Teacheleik, a cross border town in Shan State, and in Mandalay Overseas & Exchange Personnel Envoys John & Kaye Williamson, Jamaica, Caribbean Territory Be Still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10 Silence is the simple stillness of the individual under the Word of God We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice 4

Northern Territory Region Majors Dianne & Gordon Main The safe arrival of Captains Gideon & Violet Lumuli (and their 3 children) from Kenya More effective outreach to the Indigenous community in Darwin s new program "Bricks Without Straw" which is aimed at forming links with Indigenous young people in Darwin Positive Lifestyle Centres & Programmes (Eastern Victoria) Suzanne Maxwell, The Positive Lifestyle Programme makes provision to assist with anger management, relationship and general counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, relapse prevention and other crisis intervention programmes. Pray that God will call more young people to become officers. Pray for that the work among children and young people will be given highest priority over the next months and years. South America West Territory Commissioners Jorge A. & Adelina Ferreira (Countries included in this territory: Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru) Praise God for the way in which the rediscovering of the origins and motivation as Christians and Salvationists has helped the territory to be more affective in its work. Pray for each centre in the territory as they continue to pursue and accomplish the Army s mission in their city and area of influence. Schools are an important Christian influence in the four countries where the Army serves and there are no limitations placed on Christian teaching - pray that the Salvation Army with its Christian principles will continue to be such an influence for good. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth 2 Timothy 2:15 God s word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path 6

4 Week Commencing Sunday July 11 Wodonga (Northern Victoria) Captains Elizabeth & Michael Johnson For the continued growth of our community ministries For growth in membership and participation and the reconnecting with God The continued growth of our integrated mission - that we will be able to meet people's needs in a holistic way. For our children's ministries, that we will see an increase in children attending. Rochester (Northern Victoria) Captains Graham & Julie Moyle That our second congregation will be successful in attracting new families to our church. For a connection with senior citizens and low income families in our community through a weekly community meal. That we will see people come to faith as we stay close to God and follow our vision Ulverstone (Tasmania) Captains Bronwyn & Craig Wood For the spiritual and numerical growth in our corps and for the beginning of our women's bible study group. For a cook for our weekly Life Time community lunch, to ensure the continuity of this ministry and that the people who attend Life Time will want to know more about Jesus. That people will come to know Jesus through the 'Journeys' course. Converts have been won and soldiers recruited. Much encouragement was received when a married couple became the first soldiers to be enrolled in Greece and now are in the UK training for officership, along with an Italian cadet The newly refurbished worship centre and community halls have now been opened in Turin The contacting of many people is continuing on the streets of Thessalonki. A number of women have found the Lord and left the sex industry..weekly Bible study and soldier preparation classes are taking place Spain Command Lieutenant-Colonels Luis & Aida Castillo (Countries included in this territory: Canary Islands, Mallorca, Spain) Spain s Salvationists give thanks that their efforts in evangelism and outreach ministries are resulting in the growth of the Army family in their country Youth work has seen good results, with its programmes and activities being appreciated please pray for the action plan which has been drawn up to encourage the young people to get together regularly May. Seymour (Northern Victoria) Captains Gerald and Mairi Mitchell Success of the Mainly Music Program, the Community Garden Project which is continuing to develop and the Community Lunch which continues to attract good attendance That people will come to know God through the various programs that operate through the Seymour Corps, and for volunteers to assist in running programs For Spiritual (and numerical) growth in the Corps Lentara Hostel (Western Australia) Alan Gould, Andrea Campbell Please pray for the management, staff and residents The new street to home project The relocation of Lentara Men s Hostel to a temporary site whilst the current building is demolished and rebuilt GippsCare Social Services, Doveton (Eastern Victoria) Celia Irwin & Regional team the close relationship GippsCare has with local Corps and how we work in partnership to assist all the families and individuals who ask us for help. For the daily challenges of helping our clients For the provision of a new office and Church to be linked with our Corps, and for the setting up of new programs so that we can reach out & help all members of the community. People are being saved and many others are being spiritually renewed The first edition of Uni-form the territory s new internal publication has been produced and the Krigsropet (The War Cry) has been redesigned with the aim of making it more appealing to younger readers. The employees and volunteers who render invaluable service for the ongoing work and mission of the Army. Those who, on hearing God's call, continue to submit to His will.
