1 Rehoboth reformed church may 2015 Reflections May is right around the corner! Spring is right around the corner! Spring is an incredible season that reminds me of how faithful our God is. Each spring if we can literally smell, see, taste and hear the work of God around us. New life is abundant; and into that new life we all are grafted because of what Jesus did on Easter! Let us celebrate our new life as we see our beautiful Michigan scenery coming back to life! In May we will wrap up our sermon series #struggles on Mother s day. Make sure to invite your mother to that service because we are going to honor our mothers in an awesome way and equip them with the power to find true #rest. The balance of May we are going to learn about the importance of serving our community. On May 15 th we will be partnering with the Department of Human Services and Rehoboth will be letting all foster parents have a date and movie night while we watch their children! 2 Joy is found not in the absence of suffering, but in the presence of God. Registration forms for summer camp sessions at Cran-Hill Ranch and Camp Geneva are available in the rack in the Fellowship Hall across from the bathrooms. The church will pay ½ of the camper s fee. Please see Trent Mulder for a voucher. Registration fills up fast and is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get your registration in early. The Rehoboth family church camp out will be on Friday, May 15 Sunday, May 17, We have reserved the camping area by the Retreat Center and the Retreat Center at Cran-Hill Ranch. We still have some sites available and the Retreat Center is also available to stay in if you would like to join us. Cost is $36 per night. The area has a playground, horseshoe pits, and a pavilion. Possible activities include fishing, riding horses on trail rides or pony rides for the kids, searching for frogs and turtles, a penny scramble, and more. Mass choir. Communion. Pot- Luck lunch at noon. Golf Outing. 9:30 A.M. at Missaukee Golf Course for men and women. July 5, 2015 Celebration Church Service. Afternoon celebration beginning at 2:30 P.M. at The Stahl Event Barn. Games, canteen, catered meal, down home program, ice cream social after the program. Plans are being made to sell some souvenirs and T-shirts. More on this later. Many historical items will be displayed and a time capsule will be opened and added to. Please put these dates on your calendars and plan to attend.

4 David and Janice Meekhof were members of McBain CRC. Janice told me that they'd always driven past Rehoboth on their way to McBain, so when they had to make a change, it was easy to stop at Rehoboth. They have felt very welcomed and enjoy worshipping with us. They are parents of 4 daughters, and have 6 young grandchildren. Janice says that it is a pretty busy place when they all get together. David can be found most days, working as a mechanic at Don's Auto Clinic in Cadillac. He has worked there for 40 plus years. He started as a young man since his dad was a part owner of that business. Janice says he is always busy and a very hard worker. He enjoys deer hunting in the fall. Janice works in the Activities department at Autumnwood. She's retained her CNA certification over the years. She loves spending time with grandchildren, working in her flower beds and going to garage sales. Together Don and Janice llke to go out to eat and attend some auctions. 5 Tim and Windy King and their daughter Sidney are new members of the Rehoboth family. Sidney is 5 years old now, but her parents waited a long time for her birth. They were married 17 years before she was born. Now she is in young 5's at Northern Michigan Christian. Tim and Windy were members at Hartwick Prayer Chapel, but that church has closed now. They wanted to go to a church which had an active kids program so they could all learn together. Tim has worked at Borg Warner for about 7 years. He is a rock hound, collecting them around their property and wherever he visits. He has a collection of Petoskey stones. He sometimes carries some in his pockets to share with people whom he meets to point out an aspect of God's creation. He thoroughly enjoys being outdoors to admire the world that God has made. He reads a lot, especially books pertaining to science. He's been a collector of Coke bottles. One that he showed me was brown and dated He finds most of them at flea markets. He hopes to be able to join the Amen Chorus again when his work schedule permits and would like to volunteer at Healing Private Wounds. Windy is a Surgical tech at Spectrum Health Center in Reed City. She is also the lead technologist in Central Supply, ensuring that all the instruments are sterilized properly and ready to use. Windy would rather go to garage sales than flea markets. Tim says that she is a fish---which means that she really enjoys swimming. She also likes to spend time biking. Windy helps out at Higher Grounds which is an arm of Love, INC. This family has been very active at Rehoboth, attending Sunday school classes and Wednesday night activities most weeks. Larry Heuker has been a farmer all of his life, working with his father, Harm. About 6 years ago he sold the cows, rented his land out and also rented space in his barns to another farmer. Larry was a member of McBain CRC. He has one brother, and one sister living. His sister, Crystal, passed away several years ago. Larry likes to restore old tractors and owns a few of them. Every year he goes to the Buckley Old Engine Show and belongs to that group. He collects maple sap in the early spring and takes it to the Amish who cook it down to syrup. He also likes to hunt and fish and go to auction sales. When McBain CRC closed, Larry wondered about where to go to worship. He knew that he had many friends at Rehoboth, so made the decision to come here and has found it a good fit.
