Marc Owen and Theo Stiegler led the assembled ministers and elders as we sang hymns and camp songs with energy suitable for the Black Cloister, where we met. The Black Cloister is a relatively new bar (! ) in Toledo owned and operated by a retired Lutheran pastor, Tom Schaeffer. From 10:00am until roughly 3:00pm, the Black Cloister was home to more Presbyterians than I could count. We sang, we worshipped at the Lord s Table, we ate lunch together, and we did a fair amount of PCUSA business. During one of the business times, I enjoyed the company of Marc and Theo, which was a treat for me. On any Sunday morning when I arrive for The Garden service, they are focused on rehearsing and preparing to lead worship with their music. As soon as I enter the building, I am meeting and greeting people and readying my spirit to lead worship with Refuge. We seldom speak to one another outside of our worship tasks! While my friends and colleagues debated whether we should allow a minister who voluntarily left the church to avoid church discipline the ability to return to ministry after 5 years, or 10 years, Marc, Theo and I spoke together about the nature of worship, our love for Collingwood Presbyterian Church, and which door we would use when we removed their equipment from the stage and packed up their cars. Marc observed that the reality of church government did not appeal to him at all, but that without it, the life of worship and personal devotion that he enjoys would not be possible! We had lunch together. We spoke about the struggle for those with an artistic inclination surrounded by cultural expectations, and the pressure to play football, soccer, any sport was more acceptable than music, dance or drama. Although, we agreed, it is better now than back when we were young. In fact, I learned that while others were taking care of the governance of the PCUSA, I was free to care for Marc and Theo who are friends and church family. This was one of my better presbytery meetings! Grace, and peace to you Rev. David Aber, pastor

In order to accomplish this mission, we have established Deacon of the Month. Our Child Care staff meets the needs of your children and provides songs, stories, and play activities that tell about God s love. Through our WHIRL curriculum, children interact with the Bible in every lesson. Young Faith Youth Group Young Faith is our small but growing youth group. Youth find real friendships and learn about Jesus as we connect students with real community needs, teach them to take ownership of their faith and live it out in their lives. We have regular activities and retreats as well. The residents were very happy to receive the cards and appreciated the neighborly gestures.

Our lobby has a new paint job and several rooms have been cleaned and organized.

HAPPY VALENTINE S DAY On Sunday, February 12, Valentine s Day cards were delivered to Pristine Nursing Home by the children. We arrived right as their church services were ending and the children were able to personally hand each resident a card. The children made over 40 Valentine s Day cards earlier in the month during Sunday School. The residents were very happy to receive the cards and appreciated the neighborly gestures. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers that helped spruce up the church this month. Our lobby has a new paint job and several rooms have been cleaned and organized. If you would like to help volunteer, join the Third Thursday Volunteer Group, every third Thursday of the month at 9:30am. For other volunteer opportunities contact the church office, sign-up If you would like to pray for others as a ministry of Collingwood Presbyterian Church please sign up on the list in Fellowship Hall. You will be notified by of those requesting special prayers which you may pray at home or wherever you are. If you do not use , please write your phone number and you will be called with the request. For those requesting prayers, please fill out the form on the Garden tables and put it in the flower pot or fill out the form on a Fellowship Hall side table and put in the designated box. You may also call the church office with prayer requests. DONATE EASTER CANDY FOR THE CHILDREN S EASTER EGG HUNT. CANDY MUST BE INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED AND ABLE TO FIT IN PLASTIC EASTER EGGS. A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow. For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs. Next Thursday there will be try-outs for the choir. They need all the help they can get. Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days. The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
