2 SUNDAY S REFLECTION: Too Much Information There is a common expression: Too much information! We usually use it when people tell us details about their lives that we don t want or need to know. Today, when James and John ask Jesus a simple question, making their request for places of honor in the kingdom, a simple answer might have been in order. Instead, as he often does, Jesus answers a question with a question; today it s about drinking the cup of suffering. Then, once the others are indignant over James and John s outrageous request, he proceeds to give them what may have been too much information for followers who were simply interested in the pursuit of glory. But this information, though it can sometimes seem too much for us, is essential for our lives as disciples. In Isaiah, in Hebrews, and in Mark today, we learn this information. It is in suffering, in weakness, in self-giving service to others, that we come to understand the kingdom. It is the information we need to find our place and come to be honored in the reign of God. Other supplies are needed as well as personal advisors. You may visit to learn about this program that walks with people transitioning from homeless to employed, selfsufficiency. The Respect Life Ministry will be collecting coins and cash for the annual Diocesan campaign to support the Orange County Shelters and crisis pregnancy centers that provide support and care for mothers and families in crisis pregnancies. Proceeds will benefit Precious Life Shelter, Mary's Path, Casa Teresa, Hannah's House, Life Centers, Horizon Clinic & Obria Medical Clinics that provide transitional housing, food, counseling, baby & medical needs., post abortion healing, and much more! Also, courtesy of Horizon Pregnancy Clinic, there mobile clinic will on site, Miss Courage for your viewing. Their van offers free ultrasound and pregnancy testing on wheels! ATTENTION: FLU SEASON If you are sick, please consider staying home from Mass. Catholics who are ill are excused from Sunday worship out of respect and concern for their fellow worshipers; therefore, it is not a sin. Catholics who are ill may make a spiritual communion during the time of their illness. To ward off the colds and flu, remember to wash your hands throughout the day, keep your hands away from your face, get plenty of rest, and drink lots of fluids.
