2 SUNDAY S REFLECTION: The Responsibility of Our Faith Today is a day simply to ponder the fact that in baptism we were claimed by God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy prompts us to fix in our hearts the truth that God is the Lord of both heaven and earth and there is no other god. Saint Paul reminds us that, because we received the Spirit of adoption in baptism, we are now children of God. In the Gospel Jesus charges us with the responsibility to make other disciples. These realities make today s solemnity a day of praise, adoration, and responsibility. It is a fitting day to thank God for the absolutely free gift of faith that we were given in baptism. It is also a day to ask God for strength to take on the responsibility of sharing that faith with others. A parishioner said it was a great idea to ask for ideas from parishioners. The Pastoral Council agrees with the idea and the Feedback has allowed us to consider the needs of our parishioners in the steps we will take in helping the spiritual growth of our parish, developing a community united in our Lord, as well as maintaining the beauty and safety of our campus. #2. A parishioner said the registration forms for Holy Spirit were difficult to find. Registration forms are at the main entrance of the Church on the side of the bulletin cart or on the Parish website at #3. A parishioner said there should be less singing during Mass. We believe that singing during Mass is liturgically sound. We have received many positive comments about the choirs and singers we have at Holy Spirit. Many scripture verses support the singing at Mass. #4. A parishioner said that we should improve the fish dinner. Suggested we check with Saints Simon and Jude Parish. The comment will be directed to the Knights of Columbus for next year s Lenten fish dinner. #5: Six parishioners recommended that we have more confession time. We agree and fully support this idea. As a result of this feedback, Father Joseph has added additional confession time on Saturday from 8:00am until 8:30am. *** Your comments and suggestions are important to the growth and development of this Parish. Please continue to come and share your ideas with us after all Masses. SAVE THE DATE: Annual Parish Picnic will be on Sunday, August 5 from 8:30am until 3:00pm.
