2 bâü ctü á{ _ yx Éy cütçxü SUNDAY S REFLECTION: The Lamb of God Behold the Lamb of God! We hear this phrase every Sunday at Mass, but there s a good chance that many Roman Catholics do not know who in the Bible originally spoke it. The phrase appears only in the Gospel of John, on the lips of John the Baptist, who utters it twice. In today s Gospel reading, John proclaims Jesus as the Lamb of God, and two of John s own disciples then follow Christ. A little bit later Andrew, who heard John and then followed Jesus, brings his brother Simon to be re-named Cephas, or Peter. A careful look at these Bible verses shows us the mission of everyone baptized into the Body of Christ: we must always proclaim our faith in Christ, so that others will follow him. We may not know how the will of God might work through those we bring to Christ; that is not the point. The point is that our ongoing mission as a church is to bring others to Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. 3 bâü ctü á{ _ yx Éy fxüä vx WELCOME FATHER SAUL ALBA-INFANTE The Holy Spirit Church Family welcomes Father Saul. Below is a brief bio of our new priest: Fr. Saul Alba was born and raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where he received an Augustinian education in primary school and graduated from Salesian High School. In his early adult years, he did some work in the fields of business and education and even started a career as a civil lawyer in his hometown before answering the call to priesthood. His journey into priesthood began when he joined the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, where a spiritual advisor encouraged him to enter the local Diocesan Seminary of San Luis Potosi. After two years, he was invited to continue his studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. In 2002, Father Saul was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Baker, Oregon. As a priest, he has happily served God and His people through previous work in the Oregon communities of Sacred Heart Parish in Klamath Falls, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Boardman, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Bend, and most recently St. Mary s Parish in Hood River. While working for the Diocese of Baker, he was also a Hispanic Vicar for the Central Deanery and an auxiliary to the Diocesan Tribunal and the Diocesan Retreat Center. In addition to Oregon, he has also done pastoral work in his native Mexico, where he earned a Diploma in Canon Law by attending summer programs at the Pontifical University in Mexico City, and in Canada, where he served St. Joseph s Parish in Langley City, British Columbia. When he is not involved with pastoral work, some of his hobbies include cooking tasty meals, reading a good book, keeping up with the latest movies, spending time with relatives, and watching NFL games. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and loves working with people from different cultural backgrounds because at the end of the day, we all share the same faith as Catholics. With the grace of God and the invitation of the Diocese of Orange, he is now here.

RESPECT LIFE January is Life & Dignity Month. January 22 marks the unfortunate legalization of abortion in our nation. Millions of babies have been killed, and in many cases their parts have been harvested and sold illegally, as recently exposed by the undercover work of Center for Medical Progress. A prayerful march celebrating the dignity of human life, will be held in downtown LA on Friday, January 20 ONE LIFE LA.
