Page 2 November 19, 2017 A Thanksgiving Thought We learn that prayer can be of four kinds: A - Adoration C - Contrition T - Thanksgiving S - Supplication We Ask (Supplication) for many things from God and we receive so much from God. We are reminded that we need also to say thank you. God tells us we all need an attitude of gratitude. In the gospel of the healing of the ten lepers, Jesus asks, Were not 10 lepers healed? Where are the other nine to say thank you? Jesus is saying that we need to realize that we need others in our lives. God is always in our lives and gives us so much. We need to say Thank you to God. There are many people in our lives who help us and motivate us. They cook for us, they do laundry; they protect and guide us. How nice it would be to say: Thank you Mom for a great supper ; or to say Thank you Dad for working so hard to keep a roof over our heads. Saying thank you should become part of our way of living and acting. It is not only on Thanksgiving Day that we remember to Thank God for the huge quantity of food we are about to consume, but we should develop an attitude of gratitude that dictates our way of living. We recognize that we depend on each other for what is needed to carry out our lives. Alone we are not able to have many things needed for life itself. In saying thank you we recognize our need for each other. So let me say Thank You to the so many members of St. Francis de Sales who share their Time, Talent and Treasures to make St. Francis the great parish that it is. We Thank God for His guidance and protective support. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and bless you for your goodness and support. Peace,

3 Parish & Community Activities Page 3 November 19, 2017 Women s Ministry News.. Today, November 19th we are having our Annual Christmas Boutique & Breakfast. Please come and support our Parish and do some shopping. Have a delicious breakfast of bacon & eggs, hot biscuits and potatoes O'Brien for $7.00. We will be here from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The St. Francis de Sales Card Club Ministry will be selling handmade greeting cards today Sunday, Nov. 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cards will be sold inside the auditorium during the Women s Ministry Holyday Boutique. Cards are $1 each or six card for $5. So come and stock up on your holiday greeting cards. Your friends and family will love these cards that have a personal touch. Thank you! The Altar and Rosary Society would like to thank everyone who supported the Kahlua Bundt Cake Sale that raised funds for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. You may pick up your delicious Bundt cake on Sunday November 19th in the parish hall between 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A special table will be available. SFDS Annual Christmas Giving Tree Our annual Christmas Giving Tree will be in the main entrance of the Church this weekend November 18th and 19th. Gift Tags with the family number, along with the age and gender of each child, will be on the tree. You may take a gift tag and bring the WRAPPED GIFT WITH THE TAG ATTACHED to the Parish Office NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9!! NO GIFTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER DECEMBER 9!! Please don't forget our deadline as we need to distribute the toys before Christmas to the children, so please get your presents in early! This Advent season come and immerse yourself in the infancy narratives of Jesus with an evening of scripture reflection and faith sharing. Wednesday November 29th at 7:00 PM in the Library. 4 Parish & Community Activities Page 4 November 19, 2017 Remember your Loved Ones This November 2017 During the month of November, we will be posting our Remembrance Scroll of the deceased St. Francis de Sales parishioners by the tabernacle. All parishioners are welcome to place any pictures of deceased loved ones on the table under the scroll. Also, you may use your ALL SOULS envelope to request masses for your deceased loved ones. Please remember to pick up your photographs no later than December first in the Sacristy. Mass of the Anointing of the Sick Misa de Unción de los Enfermos A Mass of the Anointing of the Sick will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at 8:00 AM. All welcome to attend. A reception will follow in the Hall sponsored by the Sewdality.
