2 TODAY'S READINGS First Reading -- Those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever (Daniel 12:1-3). Psalm -- You are my inheritance, O Lord! (Psalm 16). Second Reading -- Where there is forgiveness, there is no longer offering for sin (Hebrews 10:11-14, 18). Gospel -- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away (Mark 13:24-32). GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES "It's going to get worse before it gets better" is a phrase that prepares us to buckle up for a rough ride. We know that enduring a difficult time will require some strenuous physical or emotional energy on our part before we experience the calm of normality. Our past experience tells us that we can endure the difficult pressure better when we know how long it will last and if we know that something better awaits us. Getting through the tough times while holding to the promise that awaits us is the message of this weekend's readings. Poinsettia Sale The Life Teen group will be selling poinsettias for the Christmas season this year. The sale will be from now until the first weekend in December. The price will be $12. They will be performing vascular and abdominal ultrasound screenings which are non-invasive and painless. While at the church they will be examining 8 areas of the body. They will be screening the Carotid arteries on both sides of the neck looking for parry plaque build-up and blockage. This is the # 1 cause of stroke The Thyroid for cysts, masses and unusual growth. The lower abdominal Aorta for aneurysms, the liver, the spleen, gallbladder, and kidneys. These are tests that are NOT performed in routine physicals, nor will insurance companies pay for them unless you are symptomatic. In a hospital, these tests will cost thousands collectively. They offer these tests for $45 each, or all 8 screenings for $139. A representative will be here at each Mass on November 14 &15 to answer questions and schedule appointments.
