2 A Letter from Father... Page 2 July 23, 2017 Heartfelt Thank You! On behalf of Get on The Bus Program and families, I would like to thank you for your support of the program this year, as well as those who volunteered and chaperoned. We raised $2,361 dollars including the $440 from the car wash. I sincerely thank you for your generosity in helping to unite children with a family member in prison. Everyone had a great time and were overwhelmed by the love, welcoming and generosity of all of you and the volunteers who made this trip possible. We left at 11:40 PM from St. Francis de Sales and arrived at The Divine Savior Parish in Folsom at 7:00 AM. There the families were enthusiastically greeted by volunteers and treated to breakfast. They were given a chance to freshen up for the important visit with mom and dad. We left at 8:00 AM to the prison, everyone passed the clearance check at the visiting center and then were shuttled to the visiting area. The visiting area was full of energy, tears, laughter and lots of hugs. The children played basketball, board games, face painting and crafts. Later in the afternoon the focus shifted to one family, a mom with several of her children, who were playing Jenga. The stack of blocks had gotten so tall and the bottom, in some areas, was only supported by one block that cause a lot of drama which attracted the attention of many families and guards. All seemed to be focused on the game and how much taller the stack could get. At 1:30 PM we left for a reception site at St. John the Baptist where the families had root beer floats, brown bag dinner and a chance to shoot some hoops before we left for home. On the departure the children received a framed picture of their visit with their parent, a teddy bear and a love letter written from their mom or dad. We arrived back at St. Francis de Sales at 10:30 PM tired but with many happy memories of being able to laugh together, hold each other, play games and build on their family relationship. 3 Parish & Community Activities Page 3 July 23, 2017 Support Repair of Church Stained Glass Windows Women s Ministry would like to invite everyone to come and enjoy our Piggy s In The Mud breakfast on Sunday, the 30th of July in the parish hall. Breakfast consist of 2 biscuits, 2 sausage, gravy, hash browns and the cost is $6.00. All proceeds go towards the maintenance repair of our stained glass windows. Please plan to come to enjoy fellowship and a great breakfast. Coffee and iced tea will also be included. Women s Ministry News.. We want to thank everyone for their generous donation to our month of May Baby Shower. The turnout of gifts was great. Riverside Life Services were speechless when we arrived with a playpen and cradle full of baby items. With the blessing of God and all the gifts, we know that we really brought love and hope to many new moms. The Mother s Day Rose sale sold 250 bouquets and we got a lot of blessings, as well as thank you for what we were doing, as Mother s ourselves, on Mother s Day. We want to say Thank You to all who purchased a bouquet and made it all worth while. The proceeds also went to the Riverside Life Services. Thank you all for making the month of May so blessed for us.
