2 From the desk of Father... Page 2 October 21, 2018 Parish Picnic Last Sunday we celebrated our annual Parish Picnic usually at Fairmount Park to enjoy food, music, and games. It has always been a joyful event to bring the parish together. This year, however, it was held in our courtyard, and we joined with our school on this beautiful day. Our school is celebrating it s 100th year anniversary, so it gave us another reason to celebrate the picnic together. I felt the event was a rousing success to share our school and parish life. It was wonderful to see so many of our school children, parents, and parishioners. I feel events like this foster a deeper relationship and understanding between our school and parish community. I would like to thank all those who worked so hard to put the picnic together. You did a great job. May God bless you all and may next year be another success. 3 Parish & Community Activities Page 3 October 21, 2018 This Sunday, October 21st, the Altar Society invites you and your family to join them in our parish hall for coffee and doughnuts and a bake sale after the 7:00am and 9:00am masses. The Altar Society invites you to a taco, beans and rice dinner plate after the 5:00pm Spanish mass. Plates will be $5.00. Come and enjoy a delicious dinner that you don t have to cook! ***HomemaDe HoLiDay Cakes AvaiLabLe in November*** It is that time of year to plan your holiday desserts. Let us help you, and the you can help the church, by purchasing a Bundt cake! The Altar and Rosary Society is making their annual German Chocolate Bundt Cakes with Kahlua as a fundraiser for the celebration mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe in December. We will be providing yummy, moist samples of the bundt cake after each mass on Saturday and Sunday, October 27th and 28th. Pre-orders will be taken that weekend. The cost is $20 for each cake, and must be paid at the time you order. You can pick up your cake on Sunday, November 11 in the hall. The proceeds will help with the expenses with this special mass, including a beautiful procession of mariachis singing and playing instruments. Women s Ministry News On Saturday, November 17th, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, the Women s Ministry will host a Holiday Boutique. On Sunday, November 18th, from 7:30am to 1:30pm, they will also be hosting a Have- it -UR Way breakfast in the parish hall. We invite everyone to come and shop, eat, and enjoy the fellowship of St. Francis de Sales. So finish your fall cleaning and call us to schedule a pick up. We will be accepting everything except clothes, large furniture, and large televisions. We will also be accepting Christmas items including trees, ornaments, and trimming. We celebrate this day by remembering the revitalizing mission at the heart of our Christian faith - to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith ensures the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope s missions. Thank you for your generosity. INTERESTED IN PRIESTHOOD OR RELIGIOUS LIFE? Have questions? Need help discerning? The Office of Vocations will be opening their doors every fourth Tuesday of the month to those individuals (men or women) who are trying to determine what God is calling them to do with their lives. The evening will allow participants to join sessions devoted to scripture and faith sharing. It will also allow specific interest groups to explore their questions regarding their call to service. The meeting will take place at 7:00pm in the Vocation Office (house) located at Oriole Ave, Grand Terrance, CA (on the corner across the street from Serra House).
