2 A Letter from Father... Page 2 September 3, 2017 CONGRATULATION BISHOP BARNES This year our bishop - Bishop Barnes is celebrating his 25th Anniversary as the Bishop of San Bernardino - Riverside. He is the longest serving bishop of one Diocese in the USA. All this year the Diocese has been celebrating this momentous event. It is now the Riverside Vicariate s turn to honor Bishop Barnes. What is planned is a special Mass at 7:00 PM on September 21, 2017, at St Catherine of Alexandria church in Riverside. After the mass there will be a celebration in the Parish Hall. Every Parish is being asked to help with the expenses for this important celebration. We want to put our congratulations in the Commemorative book that we as a parish Thank Bishop Barnes for his untiring service over these 25 years. Also the mass reception needs to be financially supported. So to raise funds for this celebration we will have a second collection on Sunday, September 10th and 11th at all the masses. This money will be used for Bishop Barnes 25th anniversary. Let us remember Bishop Barnes in our prayers that he can continue his great Pastoral work. Peace and Love, Volunteers are Needed. We needed about 40 parishioners from St. Francis de Sales to represent our Parish at Bishop Barnes 25th Anniversary Mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria on Saturday, Sep 21, 2017, at 7:00PM. There will be a Boutique sale, Food, Music and lots of good bargains. All proceeds will go towards the Consolata Missions. If anyone wishes to donate CLEAN, GENTLY USED CLOTHING OR HOUSEHOLD items for the Boutique, please contact the parish office and let us know what you will be brining. NO FURNITURE will be accepted. Now Enrolling for English RCIA classes Would you like to become Catholic or need to complete your Sacrament? If you are interested in our Adult Faith Formation or Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) classes please contact the Parish Office at (951) to enroll. First class will start on Thursday, Oct 5th at 7:00 PM in the Library Registration Registration for the English Religious Education Program will be held this Sunday, August 27th and September 3rd, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, upstairs in room 5. We have classes from Kindergarten through High School. The cost is $100 for one child, $120 for two and $140 for three or more children. Only checks or cash will be accepted as payment. If you are paying in cash please bring exact change. New students will not be registered without a Baptism certificate. The mandatory parent meeting will be held on Sunday, September 17th, from 10:00 AM for K - 8th and 11:00 AM for High School. Classes begin on Sunday, October 1st. 4 Parish & Community Activities Page 4 September 3, 2017 Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast The Knight of Columbus will host a Pancake Breakfast here at SFDS next Sunday morning, Sept 10th: with a menu of: Buttermilk Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Pork Link Sausage, Hash Brown Potatoes, Coffee or Decaf and Orange Juice. Donation ask will be: $7 per person. Proceeds will go to Council #1638 s charities and operating expenses. The Knight of Columbus invite you and your family to join them for Coffee and Doughnuts in our Parish Hall this morning, after the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Masses. A limited number of servings of French Toast will be made to order! Women s Ministry is in need of Christmas tree ornaments to trim Christmas tree s. If you would like to donate any trim trimmings, please contact Rosemary at (951) to make arrangements to pick up or to drop off at the Rectory Office.
