2 A Letter from Father... Page 2 September 4, 2016 September Happenings So soon Summer has ended. The voices of our school children are once again heard shouting from the school play ground. Our Mass schedule is back to its normal times. Labor Day takes that passage into a new season. We pray for those who work and we thank God for the skills we have. We pray for those who need to find a job that gives them a living wage. The priests of the Diocese will be on their annual Convocation. Let us pray for them that they can find the gathering useful and productive. Our Consolata festival will be on Sept 18, It is a good time to remember to pray for the mission and to support the works that they do to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world. Parish life flows in the rhythm of the season. It makes for an interesting movement working the various elements of our parish. All the elements give energy and life to make a dynamic parish community. We may not be able to be part of every activity, but you can chose that which gives you some spiritual growth within a loved filled community. Peace, NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has established this Friday, September 9, 2016, as a Day of Prayer for Peace in our Communities. Recent months of escalating violence continues to gravely harm our local communities. As people of faith we turn to the power of prayer to shine the light of Christ into areas of darkness. We ask that you light a candle in your home on Friday, September 9th to unite your family in prayer for peace in our communities. Do not forget as a family to offer prayer for peace. May we never tire in promoting and seeking peace!

3 Parish & Community Activities Page 3 September 4, 2016 ENGLISH Year There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Sunday, September 18. For Confirmation I, II and III, the meeting will be at 8:00 AM. For Kindergarten through 8th grade, the meeting will be at 10:00 AM. All meetings will be held in the school auditorium. ( If you have students in both the Confirmation and K-8 classes, you must attend both meetings. Registration will follow each meeting. The cost is $100 for one child, $120 for two children and $140 for three or more children. Only checks and cash will be accepted as payment. If you will be paying with cash, please bring exact change. New students will not be registered without a Baptism certification. The St. Anne s Sewdality will meet on Thursday, Sept 8th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, in the multipurpose room. Please keep in mind that our SFDS School is in session. For the safety of the Children, press the blue button at the gate on 13th street to come into the courtyard. All are welcome. Come and see how we work with our hands to help the disadvantage nearby. Knights of Columbus Italian Festival Night The Knight of Columbus are selling admission tickets to their Italian Festival Night fund raiser which will be held Saturday, October 8th, in nearby St. Catherine of Alexandria church s parish hall. Tickets are available from Knights at $15 each, during their Coffee and Doughnut event this morning. A dinner of traditional Italian cuisine will be accompanied by live music duo for dancing, from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM. Peace and love are always alive in us, but we are not always alive to peace and love. May Christ s peace dwell within our hearts, in the words we speak and in the actions we take. We desire to be a peaceful people. Strengthen our efforts to live in harmony, loving one another in peace as we work for justice in our world. We ask this through Christ or Lord, our loving Savior and the Prince of Peace. Amen.
