1 The Salem LIFE NEWSLETTER OF SALEM EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH SANDWICH, ILLINOIS August 15, 2016 VOL. 43, NO 8 His master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master. Matthew 25:23 (R.S.V.) Dear Friend, Jesus once told a parable about a master giving three of his servants various amounts of money. Two of the servants put the money to good use, but one did not. To each of the two who used his money well, the master said: Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master. Each of us will hopefully hear these same words when one day we enter the heavenly home of our Master. Like the master in this parable, I would also like to commend the many servants in our congregation who put to good use what God has given them. Well done! I especially commend all who helped with our Vacation Bible School last month. There were about thirty-five children who attended. We had many adults who taught or helped with this effort. The theme was Splash in God s Word. It was wonderful! Thanks to all who made this such a great event for the children! Well done! I also especially commend the many people who recently helped paint the house of a needy family in our neighborhood. We had at least twenty people helping each of the three days. I also thank our members who provided us with good meals. Yes, it was work to scrape and then paint the house. But what a feeling of satisfaction when we had finished! Well done! We have many members who help do God s work in many other ways as well. Thank you for all that you do to help further the work of God s kingdom through our congregation. Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done! In Christ,
