The 2017 Altar Flower sign-up is available at our church website under worship. Monthly reminders to sign up will be sent out with the link provided. You can also call the church office to sign up. Flowers are $50. Checks should be written to Horne with flowers in the notation. We have lots of openings for flower sign-ups in May-August! The Flowers on the altar today are given by Melissa Anderson in memory of Charles S. Glas. Horne s College Ministry is looking for Adopters We have had a robust response to Horne s College Ministry, and are still in need of adopters. Thanks very much for your support of this Ministry! 2017 Project Agape Christmas boxes for Armenia The NC Conference of the UMC has adopted Project AGAPE as a conference-wide mission project. Our congregation will support the project again this year by filling plastic shoe-size boxes with a variety of useful and age-appropriate items for infants through teenagers. The boxes are shipped and distributed to children in Armenia, offering hope and the love of Christ in this battered country. The 2017 Agape Christmas Boxes Packing List is available outside the church office and on our website. You may donate single items or provide a completely packed box. If you would like to participate, please pick up a packing list for the specific items needed and return your donation to the collection area outside the church office no later than SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24. Birthday Box Donations: Aislinn-Anne Brown, Girl Scout Troop 1370, is a Horne youth working on her Silver Award. She is working to create Birthday Boxes for youth at the Methodist Home for Children group home. I would like to give the youth something to make their birthday special again. Aislinn-Anne She is collecting appropriate Youth items: Cake mix & frosting Wrapping paper, streamers/ribbons $10 Gift Cards to Wal-Mart, Target, Bath & Body Works, fast food or movie theaters Birthday cards Party hats 9x13 foil cake pans Party plates, napkins, tablecloths The collection box will be in the drop-off zone in the basement and donations must be dropped off by September 17. Aislinn-Anne at darthmystic@gmail.com for more information. Horne Memorial Children's Ministries will sponsor Backpack Buddies for Polenta Elem. Please drop off items in the marked container in the Drop-Off Zone. The need for children to have food at home on the weekends is even greater this year. Please join us in helping feed children in our own community! Items needed: individual canned meats, stews, fruits and vegetables with pull top, packaged noodles like ramen and Easy Mac, Breakfast items such as individual cereal boxes, granola bars, instant oatmeal, juice boxes (100% juice only), shelf stable milk in individual boxes, raisins, pretzels or other individual healthy snacks. The contact person for this ministry will be Kristin Forbes, kristinkaylee@gmail.com. Rice & Beans for Haiti: Horne s member Scott Worrell will travel to Haiti Sept 26 Oct 4 with a NC based team to serve in Christ s name. While there, the team will buy and distribute rice and beans to hungry families. If you would like to donate for this purpose, please do so by Sept 20.

All Wednesday Night Programming Fellowship Dinner; Kid s for Christ (KFC); Bible Studies; Youth Group (UMYF) will start back on Wednesday, September 6. Please be present for this exciting kickoff to our fall programs. Fellowship Dinner is 5-6:30 PM in the fellowship hall. No reservation is required. A generous love offering is appreciated and will go to the ministry of the night. This week s dinner will be hosted by the mission team and all proceeds will go to the Helen Little Foundation for needs in Haiti. A hotdog dinner will be served. WEDNESDAY CLASSES SEPTEMBER 6 6:15 7:15 PM Sign up online or contact the class facilitator to reserve your books! Co-ed Class (for men & women of all ages!) Serve the Need Fundraiser Saturday, September 9 Dinner at 5 PM Live Auction 7 PM Join us for a dinner and wildlife print auction (prints by Duane Raver) in the Church Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will go to Serve the Need Ministry. Serve the Need is a non-profit organization in Johnston County that partners with other churches and organizations to improve the lives of those in need in Johnston County. Please spread the word and invite friends and family to come out for this great event. Donations accepted for dinner. Cash or Check only for auction purchases. Dedication Ceremony for the Horne Memorial Sanctuary will be held on Sunday, September 17! We will be back in the church sanctuary on Sunday, September 17. We will have a prayer dedication at 8:30 and 11 services. Bryan Blake, chair of Trustee will speak at all 3 services. We are proud of the work done and the hard work and planning that went into every detail. Please say a big thank you to our Trustee team for their long hours and hard work. Wednesday Men s Study - For men of all ages! This small group combines study of scripture and lifeapplication study materials, encouraging members to grow in faith as they balance the challenges of family, work, and the various stages of life.
