They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him. Lamentations 3:22-24 When I was 11, my family moved from Wake Forest to Raleigh. I made great friends in Wake Forest. I could ride my bike to the pool and all over town. I knew where I was going. I played soccer, participated in our scouting program and knew everyone in church. All of a sudden I was being uprooted! I remember feeling as if the rug had been pulled out from under me. Was I angry or distraught? Not hardly! Just concerned because I did not know about the future. As it turns out, I made a lot of new friends. There was a loving church family that helped raise me. There was a new neighborhood pool. There were activities that kept me busy. Among my favorite things was our youth group. Yes, as I look back, God blessed me richly in that move even if I could not comprehend it at the time. In Lamentations, Jeremiah is reflecting with the people on events of the day. Jerusalem had been captured by the Babylonians and their temple destroyed. Most of the Israelites had been carried away to Babylon as exiles. They were distraught. Many felt that all hope was gone. And then the revelation of Lamentations 3: Jeremiah reminds them that even through great change, God is with them. New are his blessings every day. His love and compassion are steadfast and without fail. Thus, their hope is in the Lord. It is the same for all of us! In this season, God has brought my family and I to Horne as He has led Pastor Ross to another church. The move brings about changes for my family and Horne! And yet, our God is so faithful! My family and I look forward to coming alongside all of you as we journey together in our walk of life and faith. I look forward to new opportunities as God continues to pour out his love and compassion on us, and reveals the new mercies He has in store for Horne Memorial UMC and my family. Do we know what the future holds? Not hardly! Are there uncertain days ahead? For sure! But let us find strength in His word! Let us wait on Him as He is our all in all and has so many blessings in store for all of us. Thank you for your love, support, and grace as we begin this new season together! We have been blessed by your hospitality and welcome you have shown us, and the items that were in our welcome wagon. I look forward to meeting you as staff parish plans a few events for us to connect in the near future. I am exited to partner with you as we participate in the ministry and work of God s Kingdom. Please continue to keep my family and our church in your thoughts and prayers as we wait upon God to reveal his new mercies in this season! Grace and Peace, Pastor Jonathan

Also, your kind gifts and your thoughts shared in notes and cards warmed our hearts. We sat down and read all the notes in one evening. The generous love offering has helped with some of the improvements we needed to make in our new home. We truly enjoyed our time as part of the Horne Memorial family, and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. May the Lord bless each of you. She wants to thank you all for your love and kindness through phone calls and cards. Bless you. What a blessing it is to be a part of the Horne family! With the recent death of my mother Alice Reagan, my family felt so loved with the cards, food, visitors, funeral attendees, and the hundreds of prayers lifted up her and our family, over the many years of her difficult journey. I often wonder how one gets through trials such as this without knowing the love of Christ and the love of a church family. We are comforted in knowing both. Thank you all. 13 AUGUST, 2017 PAGE The B-I-B-L-E I have worked at the Bible, prayed over the Bible, lived by the Bible for more than 60 years, and I tell you there is no book like the Bible. It is a miracle of literature, a perennial spring of wisdom, a wonder-book of surprises, a revelation of mystery, an infallible guide of conduct and an unspeakable source of comfort. Give no heed to people who discredit it, for they speak without knowledge. It is the Word of God in the inspired speech of humanity. Read it for yourself. Read it thoroughly. Study it according to its own directions. Live by its principles. Believe its message. Follow its precepts. No man is uneducated who knows the Bible, and no man is wise who is ignorant of its teachings. Every day is begun at its open page. It lies close at hand in all my work. I never go anywhere without it, and it is my chief joy. Samuel Chadwick Sunday Morning Adult Classes 9:45 AM Christ, Coffee, and Conversations Informal discussion class for all ages.
