Here we touch upon the essential point by which Christianity differs from all the other religions, by which man's search for God has been expressed from earliest times. Christianity has its starting-point in the Incarnation of the Word. Here, it is not simply a case of man seeking God, but of God who comes in Person to speak to man of himself and to show him the path by which he may be reached. This is what is proclaimed in the Prologue of John's Gospel: "No one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known" (1:18). The Incarnate Word is thus the fulfilment of the yearning present in all the religions of mankind: this fulfilment is brought about by God himself and transcends all human expectations. It is the mystery of grace. In Christ, religion is no longer a "blind search for God" (cf. Acts 17:27) but the response of faith to God who reveals himself. It is a response in which man speaks to God as his Creator and Father, a response made possible by that one Man who is also the consubstantial Word in whom God speaks to each individual person and by whom each individual person is enabled to respond to God. What is more, in this Man all creation responds to God. Jesus Christ is the new beginning of everything. In him all things come into their own; they are taken up and given back to the Creator from whom they first came. Christ is thus the fulfilment of the yearning of all the world's religions and, as such, he is their sole and definitive completion. Just as God in Christ speaks to humanity of himself, so in Christ all humanity and the whole of creation speaks of itself to God indeed, it gives itself to God ( ) In Jesus Christ God not only speaks to man but also seeks him out. The Incarnation of the Son of God attests that God goes in search of man. Jesus speaks of this search as the finding of a lost sheep (cf. Lk 15:1-7). It is a search which begins in the heart of God and culminates in the Incarnation of the Word. If God goes in search of man, created in his own image and likeness, he does so because he loves him eternally in the Word, and wishes to raise him in Christ to the dignity of an adoptive son. God therefore goes in search of man who is his special possession in a way unlike any other creature. Man is God's possession by virtue of a choice made in love: God seeks man out, moved by his fatherly heart. Just as we would be rightly scandalized to see a public display portraying a racist organiza on like the Ku Klux Klan in a posi ve light, so too, we expect Catholic colleges to refuse to lend any kind of respectability to organiza ons like Planned Parenthood that play such a significant role in the culture of death. Authen c freedom, academic or otherwise, is always linked to the service of truth and love. DONATIONS NEEDED FOR THE NEW TABERNACLE!!! Previously everyone was informed that our Tabernacle was broken in to on Halloween night. In order to better protect Christ in the Eucharist Father Jorge has decided to get a new tabernacle. We are asking for donations to help cover the expenses of getting the tabernacle set up; which requires a new stand to put the tabernacle on that cannot be cut through. If you would wish to help in our goal to set up a new tabernacle that can better protect Christ in the tabernacle please write a check to St. Pius and in the memo line fill in Capital Need. Thank you BAPTISM PREPARATION Preparing for baptism is an important part of the Sacrament of baptism. Deacon Jim will offer a baptism preparation class in English on Saturday, January 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center. If you are planning on a baptism in the near future please plan on attending this class.this class is required for parents and godparents. We'd like to connect with you! Upon request of some parishioners we have added a new group on our Flocknote so that people may be informed when someone in the parish has passed away. The name of the group is the St. Pius X saints. If you have not signed up for Flocknote. But would like to in order to receive updates by or text you can sign up by going to the bottom of our website. We received a letter from Archbishop Aquila congratulating St. Pius for our positive response to the Archbishop s Catholic Appeal. Our contributions surpassed the amount contributed last year. Because of the generous response by our parish, St. Pius earned a rebate from the Archdiocese of almost $1,100! The Archbishop asked that his gratitude be sent to all of you for your kind and generous support of the ACA this year. Hopefully we can work toward surpassing the 2015 totals next year. Thank you!

SOUP KITCHEN JANUARY 8 Friday, January 8th is a Soup Kitchen Friday where our volunteers travel to downtown Denver to serve the evening meal at the St. Francis Center (2323 Curtis St.). We still need new volunteers as we continue to be a few volunteers short of late! All are welcome. You could meet us down at the 2323 Curtis St. location. ARCHDIOCESE COLLECTION RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS In the United States today, more than 34,000 Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests past age 70 benefit from the Retirement Fund for Religious. The distribution of funds donated to this collection provides religious institutes with vital support for the current and future care of elder members. Religious institutes have invested primarily in ministry to others, and many have limited retirement savings. Through your donation, you share in the actual care of these selfless, dedicated women and men.
