1 XXIX Sunday Ordinary Time October 18, 2015 ST. PIUS X PARISH E. 13th Place, Aurora, CO, Office: Fax: Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30-5:00 pm STPIUSXPARISH.ORG & STPIUSXSCHOOL.NET School: Jesus keeps knocking on our doors, the doors of our lives. He doesn t do this by magic, with special effects, with flashing lights and fireworks. Jesus keeps knocking on our door in the faces of our brothers and sisters, in the faces of our neighbors, in the faces of those at our side. Dear friends, one of the most effective ways we have to help is that of prayer. Prayer unites us; it makes us brothers and sisters. It opens our hearts and reminds us of a beautiful truth which we sometimes forget. In prayer, we all learn to say Father, Dad. And when we say Father, Dad, we learn to see one another as brothers and sisters. In prayer, there are no rich or poor, there are sons and daughters, sisters and brothers. In prayer, there is no first or second class, there is brotherhood. Dear Parishioners: When we think about the Stewardship of Time, we normally think about spending time doing things for the Church. That is only half true. I believe that first and foremost, we must spend time with the Lord, especially before the Blessed Sacrament, in order to be internally transformed in His Presence. Only then will we be ready to change the world using our talents and possessions, building the kingdom of God. I hereby offer you a gem from the Pope s recent visit to the States: Faith makes us know that God is at our side, that God is in our midst and his presence spurs us to charity. Charity is born of the call of a God who continues to knock on our door, the door of all people, to invite us to love, to compassion, to service of one another. In prayer our hearts find the strength not to be cold and insensitive in the face of situations of injustice. In prayer, God keeps calling us, opening our hearts to charity. How good it is for us to pray together. How good it is to encounter one another in this place where we see one another as brothers and sisters, where we realize that we need one another. Today I want to pray with you, I want to join with you, because I need your support, your closeness. I would like to invite you to pray together, for one another, with one another. That way we can keep helping one another to experience with joy that Jesus is in our midst, and that Jesus helps us to find solutions to the injustices which he himself already experienced. (Pope Francis, Visit to St Patrick in the City, Washington DC, September 24, 2015) YOUTH GROUP - SUNDAY S 6:30 PM

Fear of the unknown can lead us into the temptation of taking control in ways that offend our dignity and disregard the reverence due to each person. But we are not alone. Christ experienced suffering more deeply than we can comprehend, and our own suffering can be meaningful when we unite it with his. Especially in the midst of trials, we are invited to hold fast to the hope of the Resurrection. God is with us every step of the way, giving us the grace we need. In times of suffering, let us have the courage to accept help that others genuinely want to give, and give the help that others need. We were made to love and be loved; we are meant to depend on one another, serving each other in humility and walking together in times of suffering. Our relationships are meant to help us grow in perfect love. Cardinal Seán P. O'Malley, O.F.M. SCHOOL NEWS Our students are focusing on the saints this month, specifically saints who exhibited the quality of mercy. Some of the saints we are studying are Blessed Mother Teresa, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, and Saint Padre Pio. Praise & Worship MUSIC MINISTRY We believe that every volunteer comes forward in service because they recognize that the time and the talents they possess are really given to them for the sake of building up the Body of Christ and making the reign of God more visible in our lives. Being a part of the music ministry of the church is one of the most unique ways to be a part of your church while praising the Lord. It is through music that we make every worship experience both unique and different in a special way. Our hope is that you give prayerful consideration to lending your voice or instrumental gifts to our music ministry at St. Pius X. We are looking for a cantor for the 5:30 mass on Saturday and the 9 am mass on Sundays. Please contact Connor at the parish office if you are interested in helping. How Will You Remember? It is an opportunity to make perhaps the most significant charitable gifts of your lifetime to strengthen our parish and the Catholic Community. We are so grateful to the many who have gone before us and also those who have chosen to remember us in their wills. Our parish partners with The Catholic Foundation to provide for our future financial needs. Please consider making a gift or designating a bequest in your will for St. Pius X Parish Fund at The Catholic Foundation.
