What does the Catholic Church actually believe? What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ? If you are interested in exploring the answers to these questions, we'd like to help. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, Youth & Children) is the process through which to explore the Catholic faith. The RCIA meets on most Tuesday nights. We have a year-round process and those seeking to explore the Catholic faith are welcome at any time. This process is for the unbaptized, those coming from other faith traditions and baptized Catholics who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. There will be no activities at this retreat for children, so please plan accordingly. More information will be sent to parents via . Adult Faith Formation Contact Christa at cblomstrom@olmc.org or ext. 107 NEW SERIES BEGINS IN FEBRUARY: Women s Wednesday Morning Bible Study Did you know the Wild Goose is a term the ancient Celts used for the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is often unpredictable and the least known member of the Holy Trinity. The Wild Goose is also the title of a series of sessions designed to facilitate the development of a relationship with the Holy Spirit. The DVD series is presented by Fr Dave Pivonka, Franciscan TOP who invites you into a more profound life-giving relationship with the Holy Spirit. This is a relationship marked by the love of God which breathes life into our daily experience. Join us in February for The Wild Goose Series at OLMC in Saint Michael Hall on Wednesdays from 9 am until 11 am. Titus 2 Mothers Ministry Newcomers always welcome! The Titus 2 Mothers Ministry seeks to nurture spiritual transformation through mentoring relationships. 5 Page 5 January 20, 2019 Children s Faith Formation Contact Cristy at cbarton@olmc.org or ext. 131 Kingdom Kids Nursery (1-3 yrs) KidCheck account required. The Nursery is offered during the 10:00 a.m. Mass for children ages 1-3 years old. The nurturing staff and volunteers provide a safe, Christian environment for the children in their care. Parents who utilize the nursery are asked to volunteer about one Sunday per month to keep our Co-Op Nursery staffed each Sunday. We are still seeking volunteers to help at the 10 AM and 2 PM Nursery (must be Virtus trained). Kingdom Kids Worship (1 st -5 th Grades) Kingdom Kids Worship provides a liturgical adaptation of the Sunday readings for children in 1 st -5 th grade. The Children Celebrate! Liturgy of the Word with Children program guides the parish catechists proclamation of the Gospel. At OLMC, Kingdom Kids Worship is available at the 10:00am Mass on the first, second and third Sunday of the month. Children process out at Mass & return before the Eucharist. Inclusive Ministries Christa Blomstrom: cblomstrom@olmc.org or x107 Inclusive Ministry: Moved By Mercy Respect Life In the encyclical Laudato Si, Pope Francis reminds us to value human life and care for God s creation at every level. What the Holy Father often calls a culture of waste or a throwaway culture even goes so far as to see and treat human life as disposable. The elderly are marginalized, and the lives of persons with disabilities are deemed less work living (LS 123). If we are filled with the love of God, a culture of encounter and solidarity will begin to bloom. Pope Francis stresses, We are speaking of an attitude of attentiveness, of the heart, one which approaches life with serene attentiveness, which is capable of being fully present to someone without thinking of what comes next (LS 226). Excerpts from Laudato Si (Care for Our Common Home) Pope Francis challenges each of us to have an attitude of heart. If God is calling you to serve with an attitude of heart and experience the joy of ministry beside individuals with disabilities, we would love to hear from you! Opportunities include: Do you have an individual with special needs or know of someone who may want to participate in our BREATHE Respite night? Call now to make a reservation for a night of fun with arts & crafts, games, gym activities, movies and more! We currently have individuals from 5 yrs to 55 yrs participating. SPRED: Special Religious Development The SPRED Communities at OLMC are looking for Catechists. Are you interested in becoming part of a small faith community of adults with and without intellectual disabilities and learning differences? SPRED communities of faith meet weekly at OLMC. In these small communities, catechists and friends grow together in friendship and encourage each other to follow Jesus more closely and to serve His Church more fully. Handmades Ministry Join the Handmades the 4 th Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in Manion Hall for crocheting or knitting and good conversation. No experience is needed. Yarn, patterns and teachers are provided. The Handmades serve Pregnancy Outreach, PORT, nursing homes and Circle of Hope with handmade items. This month we meet on Thursday, January 24 th. Bake Sale - sponsored by the Ladies of Carmel, the weekend of February 2/3. All money raised during the Bake Sale will be donated to the Poor Clares Building Fund.
