We offer inquiry sessions for those who are exploring Catholicism. Confirmation Prep Confirmation preparation begins in the Fall and is for all of those in 10th grade or higher. It currently meets twice a month on Monday nights from 7-8:30pm. The Titus 2 Mothers Ministry seeks to nurture spiritual transformation through mentoring relationships. The women meet on Monday mornings twice a month. Find areas of growth Build better habits Spark lasting change SIGN UP AT DynamicCatholic.com/BestLent The Chrism Mass On the Monday of Holy Week, April 15, Bishop Knestout will celebrate the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond. At this Liturgy all of the oils used throughout the Diocese will be blessed by the Bishop, and the priests of our Diocese will renew their commitments to the priesthood. Join us and travel by parish bus to the CHRISM MASS. The bus will leave at 2:45 P.M. from the St. Michael Hall parking lot. Find a seat, take a tour of our beautiful Cathedral and Museum of the Diocese of Richmond before Mass. After Mass, there will time to visit during a light reception. We will return at approximately 9:15 P.M. Registration is needed! Christa to save a seat.

5 Page 5 March 10, 2019 Children s Faith Formation Contact Cristy at cbarton@olmc.org or ext. 131 Kingdom Kids Nursery (1-3 yrs) KidCheck account required. The Nursery is offered during the 10:00 a.m. Mass for children ages 1-3 years old. The nurturing staff and volunteers provide a safe, Christian environment for the children in their care. Parents who utilize the nursery are asked to volunteer about one Sunday per month to keep our Co-Op Nursery staffed each Sunday. We are still seeking volunteers to help at the 10 AM and 2 PM Nursery (must be Virtus trained). Kingdom Kids Worship (1 st -5 th Grades) Kingdom Kids Worship provides a liturgical adaptation of the Sunday readings for children in 1 st -5 th grade. The Children Celebrate! Liturgy of the Word with Children program guides the parish catechists proclamation of the Gospel. At OLMC, Kingdom Kids Worship is available at the 10:00am Mass on the first, second and third Sunday of the month. Children process out at Mass & return before the Eucharist. Vacation Bible School We are beginning the planning of VBS. Contact Cristy if you want to help us ROAR! We are looking for adult leaders and teenage assistants for Vacation Bible School in June. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I CGS is a religious faith formation developed by Sofia Cavalletti, and Gianna Gobbi (Montessori Educator) for children ages 3 through 6 (LEVEL I). It does not use a catechetical series of books or a regular classroom. It takes place in an atrium (with materials appropriate to their ages and sizes). The intention of CGS is to help the child grow in his/ her relationship with God and get to know Him through contact with Scripture and the liturgy of the Church. We need artist (people who can draw and print well), woodworkers, and model builders. OLMC will go head to head with other parishes in a fun night that includes dinner, sports and time for prayerful adoration. It will be held on March 15 th from 6:30-9:30pm. The cost is only $5! Peninsula Lenten Young Adult Retreat Be sure to register for the 2019 Lenten Young Adult Retreat held at OLMC on March 16 th! Cost is only $20 and includes a light breakfast and Panera lunch. The theme of the retreat is Our Lives as Paschal Mystery. You can register on the Parish website or by contacting Ken White at kwhite@olmc.org or calling/texting High School Youth Group (9 th -12 th grade) meets most Sundays from 6:30-8:30pm and includes dinner, prayer, games and growing deeper in faith life. Junior Youth Group (6 th -8 th grade) meets twice a month on Sunday from 11am-1pm alongside our family faith formation program, Gathered by Grace. Everyone eats together as a family and then breaks into faith formation for their specific age group. The middle school gather at the OLMC School Gym for games and to learn the faith. Young adults in their 20 s and 30 s meet every Tuesday from 7:30-9pm for small group where we discuss the scripture for the upcoming Sunday. Your hospitality and gifts were such a wonderful reflection of Christ, allowing Hope to break into the beginning & end of our guests day. Many left today, sad to move onto the next Church, but very grateful for your authenticity and care. Thanks so much! - OLMC PORT Committee Lenten Coin Banks Lenten Coin Banks will be available in the Commons of the Church beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Please consider picking one up this Lenten Season. The money donated to the coin banks will be used to help the poor and vulnerable right here in Newport News through OLMC s Outreach Office. 100% of your donations serve the poor. You might consider putting the coin bank in a prominent place at your home or office. Let it serve as a reminder throughout the 40 days of those who are in your community that might be suffering from poverty. May you take the time throughout your day to look at those people you see out and about: at the grocery store, the bank, the hardware store, your children s school, your work place, etc. Notice who is around you and offer them your smile, your acknowledgement, your peace. As you do this offer a prayer at the end of the day for those you noticed and place money in your coin bank in remembrance of them. You might also wish to give something up this Lent. If it doesn t have a monetary value that you might be saving attach one to it and place that money in the bank every time you give it. Most importantly, offer a prayer, for a particular someone in need of prayer, as you give of your coins.
