Our church has scheduled a bus trip for Wednesday, April 25th for arrival to attend the 11:00 AM showing. Our Fullington Trailways bus will be boarding in front of St. John s Church at 7:00 AM. A stop is planned for supper at the Golden Coral Restaurant. The cost of the trip is only $ per person which includes a show ticket, your supper meal and your transportation..a great deal for a fabulous show! Final Notice: Reservations due by this Monday! Payment is due at the time of your reservation. Checks should be made payable to St. John Catholic Church. Reservations and payments can be placed in the collection basket or dropped off at the rectory office. For questions, or concerns, please call Ed Mulfinger at PARISH/FINANCE COUNCIL MEETINGS Our Parish and Finance Councils will meet this week on Wednesday, April 4th. The meetings are held in the Rectory basement at 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM respectively. FIFTH ANNUAL DIVINE MERCY HOLY HOUR Please mark your calendar for next Sunday, April 8th to attend our 5th Annual Divine Mercy Holy Hour held in St. John s Church. This special Holy Hour will begin at 2:00 PM and will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, silent prayer and confessions, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction with Fr. Boniface Hicks, O.S. B. officiating. Following the Service, there will be a reception in the school auditorium sponsored by The Voice of Divine Mercy WJVM 90.3 FM Radio. MARK YOUR CALENDARS: THE NATIONAL PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE IS COMING TO ST. JOHN S! Our church will be hosting the beautiful 4-Foot National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima this month. This statue is sponsored by the Blue Army which is an official public associaton of the faithful, under the Pontifical Council for the Laity in Rome. Their mission, given by the Pope, is to spread the Message of Fatima. On Friday, April 27th we will offer an afternoon and evening of veneration opportunities. TUNE INTO WJVM 90.3-FM & WEJO FM WJVM 90.3-FM Celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday Join our radio apostolate as we celebrate our feast day with our annual Divine Mercy Holy Hour at St. John the Evangelist Church in Bellefonte. The Holy Hour will be held on April 8th (Divine Mercy Sunday) at 2:00 PM. It begins with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and confessions. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction will then be led at 3:00 PM by Fr. Boniface Hicks, O.S. B., the program director of our parent station, WAOB. A light reception in St. John School auditorium and further opportunities for confession will follow the event. NEUMANN SHRINE/LONGWOOD GARDENS BUS TRIP Our Lady of Victory Church is sponsoring a Spring Bus Trip/ Pilgrimage to St. John Neumann Shrine in Philadelphia and then Longwood Gardens. You are invited to sign up to attend and continue your Easter Celebration of new life. The Bus Trip is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17th. Dinner, which is included, will be at Miller s Smorgasbord in Lancaster. The bus will load at the OLV parking lot behind the church, and will depart at 6:00 AM. (Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time.) The agenda is as follows: Morning Arrive at the Shrine for a tour, a museum and gift shop visit and Mass at the tomb of St. John Neumann. Afternoon Arrive at Longwood Gardens. Dinner at Miller s is at 5:30 PM; At 10:00 PM, arrive back at OLV. The cost of $100 includes your bus ticket, admission to the Shrine and Longwood Gardens and dinner at Miller s. The deadline to register is this Tuesday, April 3rd. CEMETERY CLEANUP With the beginning of spring comes spring cleanup Please remove all flowers and decorations from St. John s Cemetery by Monday, April 16th so that we may begin cleanup for the spring and summer seasons. Anything not removed by that date will be discarded by the cemetery cleanup crew. Please also remember that nothing is to be planted in the ground at the gravesites and all wreaths should be placed as close to the tombstones as possible or on top of the stones. MEMORIALS & DONATIONS We have received donations in memory of Lezetta Kutches from the following persons: Daniel Eckenrode and Nancy & Jim Swartzell. We have also received donations to be used toward our music program in memory of Lezetta Kutches from the following: Patrick Kucas; Greg & Tammy Thal and Family. At this time of year, we begin to plan and budget for next school year, as well as look for ways to help some of our families with tuition payments. We d be so grateful if you d consider giving a donation to our school in honor or memory of a loved one. Another option is our Angel Fund. Money given to this fund can be donated anonymously, and is used to assist with the tuition of families who are in need. The donor may designate a particular student(s) or they may request that the school administration choose the recipient. READING COMPETITION We would like to congratulate our Reading Competition team for earning a First Place trophy and the wonderful job they did at the March 17 th competition! We are so proud of their hard work and the great ambassadors that they were for St. John School. The teams members were the following: Neil Alterio, Anna Dello Stritto, Ava Hockenberry, Ella Ladlee, Autumn McCloskey, Zoey Merlino, Ella Novitsky, Grace Novosel, Taven Price, Evelyn St. Amant, Sophia Scott, Alexander Stanton, Julia Weiser, Cole Uadiski and Alexandria Zanghi. Thanks so much to Mrs. Michelle Russell, Mrs. Natalie Stanton and Ms. Shannon Rados for mentoring and leading these wonderful students! PRE-K REGISTRATION FOR Please call Tina in the school office if you have not yet registered your child for Pre-K and have any questions about the process. Children must be three or four years old before September 1, 2018 to be eligible for the three-year-old and four-year-old Pre-K Program, respectively. Please be sure to bring birth certificate, immunization records and a $75 non-refundable fee with you to register. ************************************************************************ SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATIONS Registrations are being accepted for the diocesan summer camps, Camp Zacchaeus (Grades 4-9) and Camp Timothy (Grades 9-12 and newly graduating high school seniors). Both of these camps have been a true blessing for the young people of our diocese, as well as the adults who run them. Angel Fund scholarships are available to families who are eligible. There is a brief application that must be completed and signed by the family and the pastor for eligibility. These are fun, educational and spiritual camps. 5 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES Religious Education Classes for students in Grades Kindergarten through 10th are held each Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. These classes are held in the assigned St. John school classrooms. CD OF A 98TH ANNIVERSARY BANQUET This year marks the 98 th Anniversary of Our Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Rev. Patrick McArdle #448. The Daughters will celebrate by attending the 10:15 AM Mass on Sunday, April 15th for the Court s intention. An anniversary banquet will follow Mass and be held at Sunny Days Adult Living Center on the Benner Pike. The cost is $25. CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAS MEMBERSHIP The purpose and mission of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas organization is to participate in the religious, charitable and educational Apostolates of the Catholic Church. The individual must be PA certified in secondary instruction (7-12) and possess the ability to teach college prep, honors and AP level courses. PART TIME SPANISH TEACHER: Saint Joseph s Catholic Academy is seeking a part time certified Spanish teacher for the school year courses which include Spanish I and II. The individual must be PA certified in secondary instruction and be qualified to teach listening, speaking, writing, and reading in Spanish. Experience in teaching secondary students is preferred for both positions.
