3 PARISH NEWS TODAY IS SIGN-UP SUNDAY/WEEKEND! Please stop by our table in Bovard Hall after all Masses to find out more about our small faith sharing groups and look at the material that will be used for this fall. Share faith and friendship as groups gather to form small faith communities within the larger parish community. There is a variety of options available for meeting days and times. At Prayer with Mary will be our theme book and most groups will meet for 7 sessions beginning late September or early October. Please think about joining a group, you will be welcomed warmly and we understand if you are unable to make all of the meetings. If you have questions about the program, groups, etc., you may contact Linda Young (412) MASS CHANGE Our Mass on Weds. has been changed to 9 am instead of 6:30 PM until further notice. 31 Club The Diocesan Office for Priestly Vocation has launched a new initiative called The 31 Club to encourage an increase in vocations to the priesthood. The 31 Club is for anyone who recognizes the importance of priestly vocations and wants to do something about it. The idea behind the 31 Club is that one person in each parish takes responsibility to pray one rosary on a specific day of the month solely for the intention of an increase in priestly vocations in our diocese. Therefore, it is a commitment to prayer to pray 12 rosaries a year. October is the month of the Rosary and we hope to get The 31 Club launched on October 1st. I am looking for at least 31 people to answer this call for prayers. If you are willing to join this effort, contact me at annemallampalli@comcast.net with your preferred day of each month. I can also be reached on my cell phone at Thanks! Anne Mallam- ANNUAL BISHOP S EDUCATION FUND The collection is in the back of the church for the annual diocesan Bishop s Education Fund. Your generosity helps students who would like to benefit from a Catholic school education, but need financial assistance. Thank you for putting your faith into action! RESPONSE TO BLACK MASS You may be aware that a satanic group has scheduled a black mass in Oklahoma City on Sunday, Sept. 21. It is deadly serious, blasphemous, obscene-an affront not only to Catholics but to all persons of faith. In response, Bishop Zubik invites all to a special time of Eucharistic Adoration on Sept. 21 from 6-9 PM in the McDowell Auditorium of St. Paul Seminary, (2900 Noblestown Rd., Crafton.) They will conclude with Benediction. HUMANITARIAN RELIEF Bishop Zubik along with Bishops throughout the United States, are requesting a second collection for Middle East Humanitarian relief to be taken up next weekend, Sept The funds you contribute will be used to support Catholic Relief Services (CRS), our official international humanitarian agency representing the U.S. Catholic Church. CRS is providing emergency needs such as shelter, sanitation, food water, medical supplies, psychological and trauma support as well as helping families prepare for the long-term realities of ongoing war. Thank you for your continuous generosity! EVER WONDER? Do you ever wonder what the Catholic Church holds for you? Do you come to church and want to ask questions about what we are doing? Anyone not baptized or baptized in another faith tradition is invited to explore what the church offers. We would love to walk this faith journey with you. Please come and see! Any questions, call Barb Stokes at ext. 13. Our next informal session will be Sunday, September 28 at 10:30 am in Conf. Room A. APPALACHIA KICK OFF TODAY, SUNDAY, SEPT. 14TH AT 10:30 TECH, TECH & MORE TECH It s everywhere! Even wonder how much the technology that surrounds us impacts relationships? We know how it can help us learn, keep in touch, meet people, etc. Larry Badaczewski will lead an interactive discussion on the topic on Monday, Sept. 22 at 7 pm. Come dialogue about your perspective and experience. MASS REQUESTS If you have requested Mass for a particular Sunday and would like to carry the Eucharistic gifts to the Altar, please contact an usher before Mass. THANK YOU! The North Hills Community Outreach Food Pantry in Allison Park would like to extend a sincere thank you for your generous donations; they are greatly appreciated! As always, the response was overwhelming. Your caring means so much to NHCO and to all that you have helped feed. Our blessings to you!
