2 H O L Y R E D E E M E R P A R I S H N E W S Everyone on this earth belongs to God. All are made in his image. Therefore it is right that all men and women, from the rising to the setting of the sun, should know the God to whom they belong. The only desire of our God is that all should know and love him, and find in him the fulfilment that they seek. Even a pagan king like Cyrus is used to further this knowledge of God - just as Jesus uses Caesar s head to make the point again: all belong to God, and the mission of all who acknowledge that belonging is to help others to find it. This is exactly what we see Paul, Silvanus and Timothy doing, as they write to the people of Thessalonica, to whom they carried the Good News of Jesus Christ. Text taken from 2016 Diocese of Salford Office for Liturgy H.R. Fall Dinner Sunday Nov. 12th Join us for a Fall Dinner as we continue into our PHASE ll Raise the Roof Building Fund Campaign! Sponsored by Holy Redeemer s K of C and the PPC Menu: Roast Pork; Mashed Potatoes/Gravy; Mix Vegetables; Salad; Apple Sauce; Pie & Ice Cream; Tea/Coffee Cost: Adults $16 - Child $8 - Tickets on Sale Soon! 2 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church A Special Note of Thanks to Aaron, Wendy & Al McLaughlin who have given countless volunteer hours to the folding of parish bulletins each Friday morning. They have been faithfully committed to this ministry to which we in the office have been sincerely grateful. Thank you for the many years you have given and we wish you a well deserved rest as life takes you in other directions! Human Trafficking Parish Pastoral Council is making an appeal to all people to step forward in the fight against human trafficking. This crime is the fastest growing crime in the world. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), human trafficking produces profits of $150 billion a year, and commercial sexual exploitation of women, girls, boys and young men earns $99 billion. The estimate is that there are over 21 million trafficking victims. These victims are considered to be objects and are thrown away when they are no longer of any use to their captors. Even after they are rescued, victims are traumatized by the experience and have difficulty readjusting to a normal life. The traffickers are often not punished. Northeastern Ontario is a hub for human trafficking. The highways run in all directions and this makes it very easy for the traffickers to move the victims out of the region very quickly. Sault Ste. Marie is a spot where the victims can be transported into the USA. PPC is urging all parishioners to aid in the fight against human trafficking by writing letters to the Prime Minister, their Member of Parliament, their Member of Provincial Parliament and their municipal council. We should now take up our pens and write to our MP, MPP and Mayor as Sudbury is a hub for human trafficking. Clare Ann Greco, Co-Chair Source: CFUW National Newsletter, July

Excerpt taken from pinionmarc.com What does it mean for me? Question for Children: Who needs help in your neighborhood or community? What could you and your family do to help? Questions for Adults: How much responsibility do you feel the government should take for meeting the needs of the less fortunate in our society? How willing are you to contribute? 8 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church
