2 Preparing our Hearts and asking for the Grace 2 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church H O L Y R E D E E M E R P A R I S H N E W S Each morning this week, if even for that brief moment at the side of our beds, we want to light a second inner candle. We want to let it represent a bit more hope. Perhaps we can pause, breathe deeply and say, Lord, I place my trust in you. Each day this week, as we encounter times that are rushed, even crazy, we can take that deep breath, and make that profound prayer. Each time we face some darkness, some experience of parched land or desert, some place where we feel defeated or trapped, we hear the words, Our God will come to save us! The grace we desire for this week is to be able to hear the promise and to invite our God to come into those real places of our lives that dearly need God's coming. We want to be able to say: Lord, I place my trust in your promise. Please, Lord, rouse your power and come into this place in my life, this relationship, into this deep self-defeating pattern. Please come here and save me. Each night this week we can look back over the day and give thanks for the moments of deep breath, that opened a space for more trust and confidence in God's fidelity to us. No matter how difficult the challenges we are facing - from the growing realization of our personal sinfulness, to any experience of emptiness or powerlessness, even in the face of death itself - we can give thanks for the two candles that faithfully push back the darkness. And, we can give thanks for the graces given us to believe that Our God will come to save us because we were given the courageous faith to desire and ask boldly. Come, Lord Jesus. USHERS NEEDED There are many important ministries in our Church, one being the Ministry of Ushering. We are looking for men, & women of all ages to join. Please call the parish office if you are interested in this special ministry. It s social, rewarding and easy, both physically and mentally. We will meet following each mass the weekend of Dec. 10 & 11 at the front of the church for about 1/2 hr. We ask ALL CURRENT ushers to join us as well as we have to implement new directives regarding how collections are done across the dioceses and even the country! Please consider joining us! Parishioners using the Pre-Authorized Donation Program (PADP) do not receive envelopes, however, if you wish to make extra donations, simply write your name and phone # on any regular envelope or a blue multi-purpose envelope found at the back of the church and you will be credited for income tax purposes. If you would like to receive donation envelopes or information on the Diocesan Pre-Authorized Donation Program please call the parish office. If So, Please update us with your contact information. This is needed to ensure you receive an income tax receipt for 2016.

The songs of Taizé are chants which are repeated to provide us with a meditative atmosphere. Taizé also involves the symbols of cross and light. It is a way to move to stillness to connect with our God and with each other, and to hear and feel the love of God within each of us. To implement the diocesan Code of Conduct in our parish 2. To obtain feedback regarding ministries in the parish and how we can better support them 3. To introduce this years liturgical theme of Grace for the parish Please inform the parish office of which meeting you will be attending. The parish is accepting monetary donations for the purchase of Poinsettias & Christmas Décor for the church in memory of loved ones. Our Decorating Committee will use these donations to create a more unified display and facilitate decorating. He did this by proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Similarly, each one of us is called by God to prepare the way for Jesus. 8 PARISH INFORMATION - Phone PARISHIONERS PLEASE NOTE: WHEN ICY CONDITIONS ARE AT HAND... There are times when ice will build up on the walkways at the entrance of the church as well as in the parking lot. Provisions have been made for sanding, however, if you see that areas are slippery upon arrival to church we ask that able bodies assist us by keeping our surroundings safe! Sand bins with spreading containers are available at both entrances of the church s walkways. PLEASE HELP US PREVENT A FALL! JOINING OUR COMMUNITY If this is your spiritual home we invite you to register with the parish. Registration forms are available near the main entrance to the church and on the parish website. If you live outside the parish boundaries the only way we are able to assist you is if you are registered with Holy Redeemer and this is the parish you attend on Sundays. If you are new to the parish please introduce yourself to our priests. INFANT BAPTISM Please call the Parish Office at for an appointment. Parents must be parishioners here or live within parish boundaries. A Baptism Preparation Course is required for all parents and Godparents. A Godparent must be 16 years of age, baptized Catholic and be Confirmed. CARE OF THE SICK & HOME BOUND To arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick and/or Holy Communion for the home-bound, please contact the parish office. Visits to area hospitals are made regularly; please call and let us know you would like a visit. MASS REQUESTS: Request envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church or through the office. The suggested donation is $15. FUNERALS If you have any questions about the Catholic Funeral Rite please call the parish office before making funeral arrangements and talk to one of the pastoral staff. 8 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC We are always ready to begin the process by which an adult or older child becomes a Catholic, either by full initiation in Baptism, or by reception into full communion. We are also happy to prepare you for adult Confirmation. For children aged 7-16, parents may call the Parish Office. MARRIAGE For couples interested in the Sacrament of Marriage, we ask that you please contact the parish to make an appointment at least 8 months in advance. A Marriage Preparation course is required. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION In Grade 3, children may receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and 1st Communion. At our parish the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in the Fall and 1st Communion in the Spring. Confirmation is generally celebrated in Grade 7/8 in the new year. For more detail or to register please call the parish office. ST. ALPHONSUS FOOD BANK (for Minnow Lake area) To access the Food Bank please call and leave a message. Someone will return your call on Wednesday and let you know your pick-up time. Donations to the food bank are always accepted. Please deposit food donations in the wooden box at the main doors of the church. For monetary donations, blue envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church (please indicate Food Bank) These can be placed in the collection basket.
