Throughout his life and ministry, Jesus taught clearly that there is a cost to living as his faithful disciples. We may be rejected or persecuted for the sake of our faith. We need not fear, however, for Jesus promises to give us the grace and strength to persevere. Bishop Marcel Damphousse will join with us as we still our hearts and listen to the indwelling of merciful wisdom shared through personal reflections. Together let us conclude this year with are hearts and minds awakened to the depth of God s unending Mercy. Corporal Works of Mercy... Our Annual Mass & Service of Light will take place this Week Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 pm Note: *4:15 Mass* will be replaced with the 7:00 pm Mass on Tuesday The Pastoral care Team would like to invite all parishioners, family and friends to attend the Service of Light. We will be remembering all parishioners who were deceased in the last year. Telephone calls are currently being made to contact the families of the deceased. We also invite parishioners to submit the names of family and friends not from our parish but were deceased in the past year. 4 H O L Y E D E E M E P A I S Advent - Year A - begins Nov. 27th Throughout advent we will continue our tradition of enhancing our church s beauty through donations in memory of loved ones that will go towards Poinsettias & Christmas Décor. Please complete a form at the bottom of the page, along with your donation if you wish to honour a loved one in this way. All monetary donations will be receipted at income tax time. A everse Food Collection will take place the first Sunday of Advent (Nov. 26/27) at all Masses. Cards taken are suggestions to assist with food donations to help fill the baskets. Take a tag Holy edeemer s Giving Tree will be present with gift tags available for those wishing to assist by buying gifts for children in need. Children s Advent Wreath Making to take place following the 11 AM Sunday Mass on Nov. 27th. Call the office to register. Friday, December 9th, 2016 Holy edeemer s 4th Annual Christmas Concert In Memoriam Poinsettia & Christmas Décor Donations Our tradition at Holy edeemer is to decorate the church for Christmas with poinsettias and Christmas décor in memory of love d ones. This is a very meaningful gesture for many families. We offer two options as a way of fulfilling this gesture of remembering. 1. The parish is accepting monetary donations for the purchase of Poinsettias & Christmas Décor for the church on behalf of loved ones. Our Decorating Committee will use these donations to create a more unified display and facilitate decorating. - O 2. You can purchase your own poinsettia. If you choose to do this, PLEASE ensure your poinsettia arrives at Holy edeemer during office hours, on either Wednesday, Dec. 21 or Thursday Dec. 22. Please fill out the attached form and place it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish office. We will ensure that you and your loved one are acknowledged in the church bulletin and any monetary donations are recorded for income tax purposes. When making a monetary donation please place the form and donation in an envelope marked Christmas Flowers. November 13 - signing of Action Cards At the COP21, Canada committed to investing $2.65 billion by 2020 to support countries of the Global South that are severely affected by climate change. While there are many ways to respond to climate change, we believe that agriculture must be at the heart of proposed solutions. Let s support an agricultural model that enables these stewards of the earth to live in dignity and feed their communities in a way that respects our common home, the Earth. If you can help with sorting, packing or delivering Christmas Baskets, please call the parish office. As well this Sunday Holy edeemer is most pleased to host a display of some of the quilt pieces which will be part of the D &P 50th Anniversary Solidarity Quilt. The pieces are being gathered from D&P Diocesan councils across Canada in a nation-wide pilgrimage of the quilt pieces. The pilgrimage will be completed just before Easter 2017 when the pieces will be stitched together to represent the solidarity that has been lived by Canadians and people of the Global South throughout the 50 year history of DEVELOPMENT & PEACE. We Need Food! All food collected at the church during November and December will be used for our Christmas hampers. Food Drop-off or Monetary Donations Food can be dropped off during open hours at the church. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please ensure that any cheques are made payable to Holy edeemer Parish. On the Memo portion of the cheque indicate: Christmas Baskets. Please place your signed card in the basket at the D&P display table in the lobby. Stitching a Solidarity Quilt across Canada Please take a few minutes to enjoy the quilt pieces on display beside the D&P table in the lobby. Boxes after Dec. 1st Especially useful are BANANA BOXES! If each family could bring 1 or 2 of these we would have a great supply! Please Note: We will be in need of a dolly with LAGE wheels (inflatable wheels) to assist with the movement of articles over the Christmas season. Children are dismissed for a 30 min. period to break open God s Word with trained catechists. Together let s make attending Mass a time of joyful prayer for our young ones!

Written in this book are the names of the many people from our parish, who have gone before us. 8 PAISH INFOMATION - Phone Our Mission Statement Holy edeemer Parish is a Eucharistic Community. We recognize that we are the Body of Christ, called to spread Jesus message of hope to the world. Through worship and witness, we share the Mission of Jesus: To Proclaim the Gospel * To Love One Another * To Welcome the Stranger * To Serve the Disadvantaged * To Foster econciliation JOINING OU COMMUNITY If this is your spiritual home we invite you to register with the parish. egistration forms are available near the main entrance to the church and on the parish website. If you live outside the parish boundaries the only way we are able to assist you is if you are registered with Holy edeemer and this is the parish you attend on Sundays. If you are new to the parish please introduce yourself to our priests. INFANT BAPTISM Please call the Parish Office at for an appointment. Parents must be parishioners here or live within parish boundaries. A Baptism Preparation Course is required for all parents and Godparents. A Godparent must be 16 years of age, baptized Catholic and be Confirmed. CAE OF THE SICK & HOME BOUND To arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick and/or Holy Communion for the home-bound, please contact the parish office. Visits to area hospitals are made regularly; please call and let us know you would like a visit. FO THOSE INTEESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC We are always ready to begin the process by which an adult or older child becomes a Catholic, either by full initiation in Baptism, or by reception into full communion. We are also happy to prepare you for adult Confirmation. For children aged 7-16, parents may call the Parish Office. MAIAGE For couples interested in the Sacrament of Marriage, we ask that you please contact the parish to make an appointment at least 8 months in advance. A Marriage Preparation course is required. SACAMENTAL PEPAATION In Grade 3, children may receive the Sacraments of econciliation and 1st Communion. At our parish the Sacrament of econciliation is celebrated in the Fall and 1st Communion in the Spring. Confirmation is generally celebrated in Grade 7/8 in the new year. For more detail or to register please call the parish office. MASS EQUESTS: equest envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church or through the office. The suggested donation is $15. FUNEALS If you have any questions about the Catholic Funeral ite please call the parish office before making funeral arrangements and talk to one of the pastoral staff. ST. ALPHONSUS FOOD BANK (for Minnow Lake area) To access the Food Bank please call and leave a message. Someone will return your call on Wednesday and let you know your pick-up time. Donations to the food bank are always accepted. Please deposit food donations in the wooden box at the main doors of the church. For monetary donations, blue envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church (please indicate Food Bank) These can be placed in the collection basket.
