Your generosity raised just under $7000 towards securing the Raise the Roof Building Fund Campaign of Holy Redeemer! Joe Zambon was not born a musician. As an infant, he had a rare condition in which fingers on each hand were webbed together. When doctors asked Joe then three-years old why he wanted them separated, he responded, to play piano. Two surgeries later he took up piano and never stopped. Following University, Joe began working in a campus chaplaincy, where he continues today. There he benefits from being surrounded by students who are searching for meaning. As they share their joys and sorrows with him, his empathetic heart overflows into his song writing. Joe has travelled across Canada, USA, India, Australia and New Zealand, sharing his reflective soaring folk songs. He has released several albums with his latest being Brothers. Joe is a true artist. You can feel the beauty of his heat coming through the beauty of his music. And all beauty leads, if we follow it, to Beauty itself. The people of Holy Redeemer have always proven to be dedicated to the needs of the parish and for this we say a sincere thank you! As supporters of the church please remember that our parish still functions during the summer months. The church doesn't close its doors to go off for a summer holiday. The ordinary expenses you incur while away from your home during the summer are very much the same as those needed to maintain our church. For parishioners who would like to register for the pre-authorized donation program, information pamphlets are available at the main entrance of the church. 7 Community Events NEPAL: Thank you for your generosity! DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE would like to thank you for your strong show of solidarity with the victims of the earthquake in Nepal. Nearly $3.5 million was donated and eligible to be matched by the Canadian government! Thanks to your generosity, more than 137,295 people have received shelter food, supplies to build shelters, as well as sanitation and hygiene kits, through the Caritas network in Nepal. DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE will continue in the long term to take action to support the people of Nepal in the reconstruction of their country. Holy Redeemer Parish forwarded $ from generous parishioners to this worthy cause. Thank you for your solidarity with the people of Nepal! H.R. PERFUME & SCENT ALERT! 8 PARISH INFORMATION - Phone Our Mission Statement Holy Redeemer Parish is a Eucharistic Community. We recognize that we are the Body of Christ, called to spread Jesus message of hope to the world. Through worship and witness, we share the Mission of Jesus: To Proclaim the Gospel * To Love One Another * To Welcome the Stranger * To Serve the Disadvantaged * To Foster Reconciliation JOINING OUR COMMUNITY If this is your spiritual home we invite you to register with the parish. Registration forms are available near the main entrance to the church and on the parish website. If you live outside the parish boundaries the only way we are able to assist you is if you are registered with Holy Redeemer and this is the parish you attend on Sundays. If you are new to the parish please introduce yourself to our priests. INFANT BAPTISM Please call the Parish Office at for an appointment. Parents must be parishioners here or live within parish boundaries. A Baptism Preparation Course is required for all parents and Godparents. A Godparent must be 16 years of age, baptized Catholic and be Confirmed. CARE OF THE SICK & HOME BOUND To arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick and/or Holy Communion for the home-bound, please contact the parish office. Visits to area hospitals are made regularly; please call and let us know you would like a visit. MASS REQUESTS: Request envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church or through the office. FUNERALS If you have any questions about the Catholic Funeral Rite please call the parish office before making funeral arrangements and talk to one of the pastoral staff. How will you bring his peace to others? 8 Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC We are always ready to begin the process by which an adult or older child becomes a Catholic, either by full initiation in Baptism, or by reception into full communion. We are also happy to prepare you for adult Confirmation. For children aged 7-16, parents may call the Parish Office. MARRIAGE For couples interested in the Sacrament of Marriage, we ask that you please contact the parish to make an appointment at least 8 months in advance. A Marriage Preparation course is required. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION In Grade 3, children may receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and 1st Communion. At our parish the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in the Fall and 1st Communion in the Spring. Confirmation is generally celebrated in Grade 7/8 in the new year. For more detail or to register please call the parish office. ST. ALPHONSUS FOOD BANK (for Minnow Lake area) To access the Food Bank please call and leave a message. Someone will return your call on Wednesday and let you know when to pick up food. Donations to the food bank are gratefully accepted. Please deposit food donations in the wooden box at the main doors of the church. For monetary donations, blue envelopes are available on the table at the main entrance of the church (please indicate Food Bank) These can be placed in the collection basket.
