AMEN NEXT SUNDAY - St. Basil's ULAS Dance Society's Kupalo dance group, are hosting a hot dog BBQ after both morning Liturgies. They are serving hot dogs, muffins, juice and coffee! The fundraiser is for Kupalo s trip to Oregon in August. They will perform at the Scandinavian Festival. NEXT SUNDAY, June 18 - Father s Day - is a day to celebrate fatherhood within our Christian family. It is also an ideal day for husband and wife to honour their marriage vows. Let us pray that our Lord send down upon our families His special blessings during each Divine Liturgy.

4 Children of Mary, Sunday, June 25 will attend Sts. Peter and Paul Vidpust at the Grotto in Mundare to participate in the Divine Liturgy and then have a picnic in the park as the year-end wrapup celebration. More information to follow! MUNDARE VIDPUST 2017 We will have a 3 day celebration: Friday, June 23, 7 pm - Moleben to St. Josaphat in church, reflection on St. Josaphat s spirituality, followed by Fellowship at the National Hall. Saturday, June 24, 5 pm - Great Vespers for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul in church, Reflection by Bishop Paul Chomnycky, OSBM; blessing of the newly renovated Monastery, followed by Fellowship at the National Hall. TRANSPOTATION BY BUS: The bus will begin picking up passengers at St. Basil s@7:15 am; then from St. Josaphat s Cathedral@7:45 am and then from Holy Eucharist@8:15 am then continue to Mundare. 6 To celebrate Canada Day 150: We will Consecrate Canada and our Parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 1. Bishop David will consecrate our eparchy to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 25 during the Vidpust in Mundare. "At a time when our country discerns great social changes; addresses urgent needs; is confronted with lifealtering challenges; and strives to build a just society; consecrating our parish and country to Our Lady will instil a new dynamism to be born in our hearts. The consecration is also a renewal of our first consecration at Baptism. A Different Kind of Prayer Heavenly Father, help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children. Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can not make change correctly is a worried 19- year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester. Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares. Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savouring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together. Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not just to those who are close to us but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive; show patience, empathy and love. When you share this, may you have a chance to make anyone smile! You will not have your wish for material things fulfilled; however, you might just find a piece of serenity and the warmth of God's touch. ************************************************************* Why is it that our children can not read a Bible in school, but they can in prison? 7 UCWLC Book up-date: The Edmonton Eparchy UCWLC printed 1,500 copies of the book Builders of Home, Faith and Community." Some books were distributed to branch members; some to schools, some to educational institutions, and libraries. Even though the U of A Library no longer accepts unsolicited books, the History Librarian at the university agreed that this book fits nicely into several subject areas in the university s collection, including areas that often have the fewest materials available: local history, local church history, women s history, as well as Alberta and Canadian history. It is a great honour that this book found its way into the U of A Library, where it will be available for years to come. Submitted by Lena Sloboda. Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Our Blessed Mother in Fatima, October 22 to November 4, with Father Daniel Wach, OSBM. The pilgrimage will include Lourdes, Santiago de Compostela, Burgos, Barcelona and Lisbon. In 1617 Bishop Josaphat Kuntsevych, and Metropolitan Joseph Veliamin Rutsky, made reforms to the monastic life in Ukraine. Five independent monasteries of St. Basil the Great were combined into one monastic order under one Superior General. The Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat - The Basilian Fathers of St. Josaphat was formed. During this year The Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat is also celebrating the 380th Anniversary since the death of Metropolitan Veliamyn Rutskyj; the 150th Anniversary of the Canonization of the Hieromartyr St. Josaphat Kuntsevych and the 125th Anniversary since the birth of Patriarch Joseph Slipyj.
