The Word Among Us is a Catholic devotional magazine based on the daily Liturgy readings. It has articles, devotionals and more. Advent edition is available in the Church Vestibule. For more information visit first communion catechism classes Notice to parents or grandparents of children baptized at St. Nicholas Church who are presently in Grade 2... Classes will take place every Sunday at 11 am in the parish hall beginning Sunday, January 24th. In order to receive First Holy Communion at St. Nicholas Church, children must have attended these classes at St. Nicholas Church. If you haven t received a call and have a child that your would like to be a part of the 2016 First Communion Class, please call or the office and register your child. First Holy Communion Liturgy will be Sunday, May 1, 2016 Warm Hands, warm Hearts It s getting cold outside so let s help others bundle up and stay warm. We will be collecting donations of new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves in all sizes. Please bring your donation anytime from now till Christmas Eve, a box is set up at the back of the church. Parish Photo Directory This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the present church building as well as the 400th Anniversary of the founding of the Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat. To commemorate these historic occasions, the Parish Council has decided to publish a Parish Photo Directory. There will be two weeks in the year to take part in the photo sessions: Session One: January 26-30, 2016 Session Two: April 12-16, 2016 Please keep these dates in mind and make an effort to participate. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase and be proud of our history at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. More details to follow.

6 Jubilee Year of Mercy Part Three: The Prayer Part 3 of 3, a simplified initial explanation THE PRAYER OF POPE FRANCIS FOR THE JUBILEE Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress......and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: If you knew the gift of God! You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.
