4 Basketball Free Throw Competition. The Parish Knights of Columbus, The Father Hannas Council, invite students in Grades 4,5, and 6 to the Free Throw Basketball Competition at St. Gabriel's Catholic Elementary school on Thursday, January 25 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Registrations begin at 12 noon. Parental permission form must be signed to be eligible to participate in this no cost fun event. There are prizes, snacks and fun to be had. Iconography Retreat/Workshop: Join Fr. Bo Nahachewsky in the beauty of God s creation at this retreat-style Icon workshop at camp Oselia. Participants will complete a Byzantine icon of The Crucifixion, under Fr. Bo s instruction and will have the opportunity to explore prayer and silent reflection on their own and with the group. We put cookies and milk by the chimney and we hang up our stockings. We hardly sleep, waiting for Santa Claus to bring our presents. Realizing there was a Jewish boy in the class and not wanting to leave him out of the discussion, she asked, "Now, Isaac Cohen, what do you do at Christmas?" Isaac said, "Well, it is the same thing every year... Dad comes home from the office. We all pile into the Rolls Royce; then we drive to Dad's toy factory. When we get inside, we look at all the empty shelves... And begin to sing: What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Then we all go to the Bahamas." Sunday, January 28 - Parish Praznyk: NOTE - On this day there will be ONLY one Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am. Disregard any other announcement that states a different time. - Our Main celebrant will be: Fr. Gabriel Haber, OSBM, Provincial Superior of the Canadian Basilian Fathers. - Following the Divine Liturgy everyone is invited to participate in the Parish Fellowship Lunch in the Cultural Centre. A goodwill donation at the door would be appreciated. - There will also be a 7 pm Divine Liturgy - What is a Parish Praznyk? It is the celebration of the Parish s Patron Feast saint. The feast day of the three holy bishops: St. Basil the Great; St. Gregory of Nyssa, and St. Gregory of Nazianzus, is on January 30.
