5 St. Vincent de Paul Society Members of St. Vincent DePaul Society want to thank our many parishioners who supported our ministry throughout this past year. Your support helped to ease the burden for the least of your neighbors within the parishes of Most Holy Name of Jesus and St. Aloysius. Relief from sudden misfortune often due to illness or injury was given due to your sacrificial contribution. We want to pass on to you the grateful thanks and praise your neighbors shared with us. Your generosity is gratefully appreciated. Our prayer is that you and your family receive a hundredfold Blessings of God in this New Year. Your donation will help St. Anthony School Programs and DePaul School for Hearing and Speech to further their goals of providing quality educational programs and services to their students. Your support is critical. Your generosity will help these organizations forever improve the lives of their students and families. Blessing of the Home On Epiphany and in some places on New Year s Day, there is a custom of chalking the doorway above church doors and homes. It is an ancient custom that marks the household for Christ. Above the entryway in chalk (a reminder that we are made from dust), you may see an inscription: 20+C+M+B+18. The year, 2018, is placed at the beginning and the end of the marking. The + stands for the sign of the cross, and the initials CMB stand for Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, the names of the three magi. The letters also stand for the Latin phrase, Christus mansionem benedicat ( May Christ bless this house ).
