Wednesday Eucharist & Bible Study will resume on Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 am. Please contact Fr Tim (rector@epiphanysudbury.org) for more information. Children in Worship: Beginning on Sunday, September 11, the children s story and Sunday School procession will move from before the Greeting to after the Collect of the Day. This should remind all of us that our children are part of our worshipping community; it is done on the recommendation of the Road Ahead Committee, and in full consultation with the Sunday School leadership. The Rector will evaluate the change over Christmas and welcomes your thoughts at that time.

5 Quiet Day will take place on Saturday, September 17, at St. John the Divine, 34 Godfrey Drive, Copper Cliff, beginning at 9:30. Sister Sue, SSJD will direct the day. This year s theme is Facing Change as Christians. To register, or for more information, please contact Ruth Corston (ruthcorston@gmail.com). Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday will take place on September 18. At that time, we will also give thanks for the many lay leaders who contribute to our common ministry with a covenanting ceremony. The Altar Guild will hold their annual Cleaning Bee for Harvest Thanksgiving and decoration of the church Saturday Sept. 17th at 9:00AM. If you are interested in helping clean and/or decorate, please speak with Donna Punstel. Deanery Day will take place on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 at the Church of the Ascension (1476 Sparks Street) with Rev. Dr. John Bowen from the Institute of Evangelism in Toronto. The day will begin at 9:30am with Eucharist and installation of David Stamp as Diocesan Lay reader. The Ascension will provide tea and coffee; lunch is on your own. There is a Pita Pit and a Timmies across the road from the church. This is an important day to talk about the vision of the Diocese and is open to everyone interested. If you plan to come, please check this out: Canadian Church Calendars for 2012 will soon be for sale. To be sure you get one, please contact Gwen at the office to pre-order yours. The countdown to Back to Church Sunday continues now just five weeks away! Last Sunday, we talked about what Back to Church Sunday is and isn't. It is NOT about filling the pews, the coffers, or even getting a "yes" to our invitation. It IS about reaching the people who aren't here through the people who are; it IS about one person inviting one person; it IS about us challenging ourselves to make the invitation; it IS about letting God doing HIS work to allow our guests to accept our invitations. Whatever the answer, we are successful when we make the invitation. We will celebrate Back to Church Sunday along with thousands of other churches around the world, on Sunday, September 25th. Thank you to the children (of all ages) who have helped decorate invitation cards there are plenty more to decorate this Sunday. The second presentation, "How to do Back to Church Sunday", will happen on September 10/11. In the meantime, the Rev. Brian Galligan, Rector of St. Alban the Martyr in Acton, talks about Back to Church Sunday 2010 on YouTube - have a look at: CHILDREN are invited to go to the pup tent in the transept during services, where there are toys and books. THE KING S BUSINESS A weekly report of our Christian Stewardship Attendance Last Weekend 79 Offerings Last Week $ Our Weekly Financial need $4789

6 At the Church of the Epiphany all baptized Christians are welcome to receive the Holy Communion. We discourage the practice of dipping the bread into the wine. If you are uncomfortable taking the wine from the Chalice, receiving only the bread at Communion is sufficient. If you want to get social with us online, follow us on Twitter ( & Facebook (
