3 For those who are new to the Cathedral If you are new to the Cathedral congregation and would like more information about the life of the Cathedral or membership of the Cathedral Roll please give your name and address to a steward or ring the Cathedral office during office hours, Monday to Friday, on Children s Activities on Sundays A crèche and children s group, Pebbles (ages 2-11), meet in the Canons Vestry each Sunday during the 11am Sung Eucharist. The Cathedral is currently seeking an Information Desk Team Leader. This is a part-time voluntary (unpaid) position and applications are invited from any and all members of the Cathedral community, and the wider public. This important position is essential to ensuring a warm welcome to the Cathedral s thousands of visitors each year. The Information Desk is located in the Cathedral s South Transept and is a valuable resource for staff, volunteers and the visiting public. The Desk contains catalogued information about the Cathedral s features and history, and is a means of responding to the many questions received from visitors. This role could be fulfilled in approximately 4-6 hours per week but the exact time and days are negotiable and will vary throughout the year. Further details of the role, and full details of how to apply, are available on the Cathedral s website and also from Reception. The deadline for applications is Friday 20 th February The role would suit a retired person, or someone with time to spare who is looking for a new challenge on a voluntary basis. Previous experience is not necessary and neither is extensive historical knowledge full support will be given to the appointed candidate. Applicants should be comfortable communicating by and also using Word documents. This is an enjoyable and rewarding role for a person looking to join a dynamic and meaningful working environment. General enquiries, without obligation, are very welcome please contact Ruth Poyner, Visitor Services Officer, on A Bible Study Group held on the second Friday morning every month 10am-12pm is looking for two or three new members. Anyone interested please phone Deborah Hennessy on for further information. Financial Giving The Cathedral depends on the generosity of the congregation for the financing of its mission. Please give according to your means and use the Gift Aid envelopes if entitled as a tax payer (please ensure that you sign the Gift Aid envelope). If you would like details of planned giving, contact either Dr Richard Hancock (Stewardship Committee Chairman: ) or Dr Jean Bradley (Stewardship Treasurer: ) who will be pleased to provide any information.
4 Notices Continued Sunday Coffee Team helpers are sought: We are looking for volunteers to join the team serving coffee in the South Transept after the Sunday Eucharist on the 3 rd Sunday of every month. If you are interested, or would like further details, please contact Carolyn in the Cathedral office on: or reception@chichestercathedral.org.uk Volunteers needed: We are currently looking for two or more volunteers to join the team on the Information Desk. This is a very enjoyable role which involves stewarding the Desk in the South Transept and answering the many and varied questions asked by visitors to the Cathedral. Duties would begin with the Summer Season that will run from 30 th March to the 31 st October. The Desk is open from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Saturday with each session being 1.5 hours. We are particularly in need of volunteers to cover Mondays (morning and afternoon), and Friday (morning) and Saturday (morning). For more information or to apply please contact Carolyn, Cathedral Reception, on or Audrey Scott on Change to parking arrangements: The congregation will be aware that a lot of work has been done on the Deanery in recent months. As a result of this there is going to be a change in the way parking spaces for visitors are allocated. From 30 th January, the Deanery will not be used for visitors parking and instead parking will be available in bays 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Canon Lane along with bays 11, 12, 13 and 14 in the Chantry car park. Your co-operation in this matter will be greatly appreciated. If your current permit is marked Deanery/Chantry, please return it for re-issue to Nicola Smith in the administration office ( ). Cathedral Friends: The Events Committee of Chichester Cathedral Friends has planned two holidays this year. The first is to Belgium and Holland from 22 nd to 26 th April. The second is to Exeter from 18 th to 21 st September. If you would like to join the Friends on one or both of these holidays, please let us know no later than Saturday 31 st January.
