5 AROUND OUR COMMUNITY Sunday, June 25 11am-12pm, Wesley United Church, 275 Pembroke St. E. hosts Pembroke and Areas Biggest Coffee Morning in support of the Pembroke Region Hospital Foundation. Free will offering in support of the Foundation will be received. Our summer pattern of worship will begin on Sunday July 2nd. The Sunday Service will be at 9 am We will be holding a parish meeting at 7 pm on Wednesday, June 21 at which Rob will share what is being thought of for the future of the ministry in this area. As this will have some impact on Holy Trinity everyone is welcome to come to this, hear the proposals, and share your thoughts.

6 PRAY like you mean it! For those celebrating special occasions: An end to violence & terrorism in all parts of the world; for those being persecuted; for all refugees; for all affected by natural disasters, for our Queen, Prime Minister and all those in authority. Our military and their families currently serving at home & abroad, for all our Anglican Chaplains and their Bishop Military Ordinate. In our Anglican Communion in the World we pray for The Northern Territory- (Queensland, Australia), and in our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem we pray for St Luke s Hospital, Nablus. In our Diocese of Ottawa we pray for Fred our Primate (Anglican Church of Canada), Colin our Metropolitan, John our Diocesan Bishop, and Rob our Minister. For the Retired Clergy of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, and for the Archives of the Diocese, and for the volunteers of Anglican Pastoral Care, and the National Aboriginal Day of Prayer. In our Deanery we pray for All Saints, Petawawa. For the churches and other faith communities in our area this week we pray for Wesley United Church. The life and members of our own parish. This week we pray especially for: and all members of their families. All children especially those with particular needs. Our sick, shut-in and those with special prayer requests: and all those we hold close in our hearts.

PRIMATE S WORLD RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FUND is the Anglican Church of Canada s agency for sustainable development, relief, refugees, and global jus ce. With the support of Anglican parishes across Canada, PWRDF makes financial and human resources available to support partners ini a ves and to promote knowledgeable ac ons of solidarity at home and around the world.

8 PWRDF is pleased to report that the federal government will match funds donated to Canadian NGOs for famine relief in Africa and the Middle East. The Famine Relief Fund will run un l June 30, This means for every $1 donated to PWRDF s famine appeal the government will put $1 into its Famine Relief Fund (for the government to allocate). The 1:1 match will be applied retroac vely to all funds donated since March 17. More than $140,000 has been donated since our appeal was announced, and money is s ll coming in from individuals and churches across Canada. The countries iden fied by the government for matching funding are the most desperate: Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen. A group of neighbouring countries at risk of starva on condi ons has also been Iden fied: Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda. In the past, when the government offered to match dona ons from Canadians, church groups have been among the largest recipients of dona ons for emergencies like this. Famine, hunger and preventable disease in these four countries require our urgent response, says Will Postma, Execu ve Director of PWRDF. Through this match opportunity announced today, Canadians can know that our response will go further to respond to the urgencies for nutri ous food, clean water, health care and other humanitarian needs.
