The Religious Education Program is HERE! Registration forms can also be picked up in the parish office during normal business hours or on our parish website. Please register as soon as possible. Registrations received after September 27, 2015 will be assessed a late fee. If you have a child in catholic school in 2nd, 6th or 7th grade who will be preparing for a sacrament please inform Brittain Banull at the Parish Office. Religious Education Classes will resume on Sunday, September 13, Thank you to all the parents who have already registered for the program. Catechetical Sunday This weekend our parish will join with parishes throughout the diocese and the country to celebrate Catechetical Sunday. At 11:00 AM Mass we will recognize all those involved in handing on the faith to children, youth and adults in our parish. Catechetical Sunday reminds each of us that in Baptism we are charged with the responsibility of handing on and witnessing to the faith in all we do. Our catechetical programs help us to fulfill that responsibility by presenting our faith in a systematic way. Please keep all of our catechists in your prayers throughout this year. Religious Education Help Needed!!! Our Religious Education program is in need of teachers and aides. Religious Education Classes for grades 3 & 5 run on Sundays from 9:00AM to 9:50AM for grade 1, 2 & 4 from 10:05AM to 10:55AM & grades 6 & 7 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Try R.C.I.A. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The Catholic Church is always ready to welcome those who wish to become a part of its faith community. The faith community of Divine Mercy Parish strives to reach out to anyone interested in exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic. This is always done in a manner where there is no pressure or obligation placed on a person to actually become Catholic. Anyone seeking answers to their faith life can enter into a process where they, along with many others, search for God in a new and more meaningful way. From the Desk of Father Pauselli Congratulations to Francesco Amadeo Isidori who will be baptized this weekend at Divine Mercy. Francesco is the son of Fancesco and Melissa Ann Rinaldi Isadori. He was born on August 23, May the Lord bless Fancesco Amadeo and his family on this most special occasion! I am so thankful for the wonderful 40th Anniversary Celebration last weekend. As I mentioned at Mass it is more of a celebration of how the grace of God can work in the lives of people who say yes to him and offer their limited talents for the honor and glory of His kingdom. My staff worked hard to insure that the whole day went as smoothly as possible and I am grateful to them not only for their efforts for that day but for all they do here at Divine Mercy to make our parish the great place that it is. I thank them for the beautiful chalice and paten they presented to me to mark the occasion. Some visitors to our parish on that day told me that we have the best choir they have heard and that is so true. The Choir under the direction of Nicholas Katchur was outstanding and the version of the Holy City was breath-taking. I thank all who provided food for the day. It was delicious! The cards and gifts I received were many and appreciated. May God bless all of you abundantly! And finally a man when to the movies and was surprised to find a woman with a big collie sitting in front of him. Even more amazing was the fact that the god always laughed in the right places through the comedy. Excuse me, the man said to the woman, but I think it s astounding that your dog enjoys the movie so much. I m surprised myself, she replied. He hated the book! Have a great week!

Participants will be given the opportunity to speak with members of each ministry to discern if you are being called to minister to the needs of our parish community. All baptized persons are called to share in the Church's mission through service in parish ministries. The manner and degree of engagement to this call differ, depending on the gifts we have been given by the Holy Spirit. We are all called to transform the world by living out our baptismal vocation, being and becoming the Body of Christ in the world, and advancing the Kingdom of God amidst the pressing demands of marriage, family, school and workplace. The people of Divine Mercy Parish have been abundantly blessed with many gifts and talents. Please consider using them to better our parish. What is the Hospitality Ministry? The Ministry of Hospitality is one of making the Parish Community feel welcome whenever they join us for the Celebration of the Eucharist or for a fellowship event. Ministers of Hospitality serve as greeters, welcoming the faithful to Mass; ushers, taking up the collection and assisting the faithful in finding a seat and persons who pass out programs/ prayer cards, etc. While there are people specifically designated for the above tasks, hospitality is truly everyone s Ministry. Consider offering a hello to someone sitting near you at Mass and be an active Minister! Who are Eucharistic Ministers? A Eucharistic Minister is a person of deep faith who aides the priest and deacon in the distribution of Holy Communion, the precious body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord. Ministers believe that the Eucharist is truly the body and blood of Christ and are a practicing Catholics in good standing with the church.

The purpose of these sessions is to encourage you to become actively involved in the life of our parish as you journey through high school. We have been blessed here at Divine Mercy in the past with wonderful young men and women who have contributed greatly to the life of our parish during their high school years and we certainly believe many of you can do the same. We will also let you know about events planned for the year that are designed just for you. Refreshments will be served and there will be time to get to know other students from surrounding schools who also call Divine Mercy their parish Church. The High School Nights will take place on: September 24 Riverside and Old Forge October 8 Scranton and West Scranton If you cannot attend the specific night designed for your school, you may attend any of the other sessions. Pope Francis has been challenging the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) to promote more active engagement in ecumenical outreach. In response, the CCR of the Diocese of Scranton is sponsoring a day of formation in ecumenism. It will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Spiritual Renewal Center near Nanticoke, PA. Registration for the day is $25 and includes three meals (breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:15). Overnight accommodations are available. This day will be an opportunity to pray, learn, discuss and fellowship, and will feature presentations by Dan Almeter, who is knowledgeable and experienced in many aspects of ecumenism.
